The battery in my DR has a date stamp of March 2006... While it still seems to do the job, I intend to replace it before it fails --- leaving me stranded in the woods far from a civilization and/or cell phone service. I've considered a Li-Ion alternative as much for the increased output as the weight savings, but I'm leery because they're still relatively new...always the skeptic, I guess. I don't personally know anyone who has made the jump.

Just read an interesting article on batteries:
http://www.webbikeworld.com/motorcyc...le-battery.htm It clarified something I hadn't even noticed before... they're not "Lithium-Ion" rather, they're "Lithium-Iron-Phosphate" . And after all the reading, I'm still back where I started. Not sure I'm willing to spend all that extra cash on a battery technology that just doesn't seem proven (IMO, at least).

This weather sucks!
I know it's supposed to get nicer out for Fri and Sat and I hope the hell it does. I got spoiled putting some mileage on the DR last week when it was warm. Looking forward to March break and some twisty dirt/fire roads through the Blue Ridge mountains in Virginia. Yeee Haaa.... will be sure to post some pics.

Hello,
I'm in Deep River I've got a 2009 DRZ400SM with an extra set of dirt wheels. I'm up for some sort of off road riding, but note, my CR250 used to throw me off if I looked at a rock while on it. I'm not too sure how things will fair on the DRZ. Cheers, Steve |

You are welcome to chat here but I know I won't be coming over to your place early Saturday morning to help you change a tire or change a main jet. ![]() I normally don't ride much further north than Renfrew. Do you have some riding areas up there that you would like to show us? Although the DR and DRZ are the same colours and sometimes on the same Suzuki catalog page, AFAIK they don't have any common parts other than the headlight. You should be able to find far more relevant technical information and support in other threads. Cheers,

Hey
Great idea although I am in Napanee. Still local?
. Working on the bike now, Dunlop 606, new bar and just did the fork with progressive springs as looking for more exploring this year. IMS tank and rejetted stock carb in the past on my 06. I'll post up later as to what I have done and found to work well for this bike as far as accessories. |

Not my bike but if anyone's in the market for a DR, this one looks interesting: 15,000 kilometers, $2700. If I didn't already have one, I'd go look at it.

Thanks Shipwrek,
I just bought Hippo Hands. They are big and ugly but look like they will do the job. I'll find out in a few days when the snow is gone from my back yard. http://www.hippohands.com/ As for the orange problem... perhaps some Krylon Fusion in a Penton Jackpiner blue would fix it
