Looks like you've never played, Linzi.

Why, did you know that if a man doesn't hit his drive past the woman's tee, he has to prove he's really a man?

It involves unzipping.

it varies between courses and the different holes. generally, it varies between 10 and 50 yards between the different tees. I've seen a 250 yard difference between the very back and very front tees.

an average course as the front tees around 5700 total yards, the next set at 6300, then 6800, then 7100, +/- 100 to 200 yards. as bertie said, the scoring of the game is in the short game, 150 yards and in. at the pro level, kick it out to 180 and in

My golf story

beginning of 10th grade. PE coach tell us we're going to be doing a lot of running that year. golf team looking for volunteers. don't have to run. "swing this. let's see what you've got."

I swing and actually hit the ball.

"hmmm," goes the 2 handicap golfer on the team. "take him."

2 months later, 1st tournament. I'm the 5th man on the team (pickings were light). CC of Corpus Christi. Top tournament in the state.

Ben Crenshaw is representing his high school. He smokes the field. Way under par. Swing like honey, and the putting stroke even better. We all sat around and watched them write all his red numbers on the scoreboard.

He came in 1st. I came in dead last.

I did get better, if ya wanna know.

No one has ever described the game like that to me. Maybe its time to take up a new sport.

Well

At one point about 15 years ago I was a 6-7 handicap. Don't play much now at all and I'm a 12+ now. The problem with being pretty good at golf is that 50% of the people DON'T want to play with you (ever) and 50% REALLY will do anything to get you to play with them. Got to be a drag. The boss was always asking/forcing me to come play at 6:30 a.m on a Saturday morning. What a drag.

Most of my fun golf playing was in the Army. They really want the enlisted folk to get out there and play. And it was cheap. And I had a lot of free time.
