AQR- Springsure Rally

Springsure rally 5th and 6th of may ,the mayday long weekend.

This year we had planned to camp at the Queens arms hotel. But a change of heart by the owner's wife about camping out the back. So it's back to the BP road house on the south side town. They have good facilities there.

Time comes around quick, The BP will do fine, good tucker. Might look at doing a run from Bowen River pub (Friday night) check
the Burdekin dam and back through Clermont way on some of Outbackbiker's tracks and onto Springsure Saturday. Do the run around the Gemfields on the Sunday as per usual and head home Monday.

Meet at Clermont lunchtime Friday, for our group including Sitdownman, going to do a run up to the Burdekin dam on Friday. Stay at either Bowen river or Mt Coolon pub, and then on to Springsure Saturday.

While all you CQ boys have been busy dodging fast moving steers
and scoffing cold beers, I took the old DR up to Springsure last week.

Spent a couple of days riding checking out Salvator Rosa & around Mt Helmet etc,
then that bloody cyclone blew up in the Gulf & things turned to shit real fast.

Salvator Rosa NP

The NP is rooted, OBB. Not worth a visit at present.
All overgrown & neglected, looks like a huge flood has gone through recently.

The creek crossing behind the NP camping grounds has been closed off.
Now it is all torn up,four times as wide and twice as deep as when I visited last May.

Enjoyed the ride out. The country is at its best right now, green as anything,
plenty of feed and the waterholes & ponds are all full.

Some spectacular scenery out that way, when you get down south towards Coonangella Stn.

Sorry, no photos, the usual flat batteries in the camera trick.

All prime Trannie country west of Springsure, Rumble. You put that beast in places the rest of us couldn't get on a trials bike, anyway
