It's the tiny screen which looks weird to me, I have the same reaction to the base charger radio. On my VW it's B&W but a long rectangle so it looks like a radio should. Plus it's a standard double din in case I ever want to swap it out.

Start a thread or use the car thread I started. Post positive and negative examples. I'll jump in. I'm not picking on you - I'm legitimately curious when I see a pattern of repeated dislike.

That is about as old as cars themselves, you create your halo car and then bring elements into your more mainstream models to try and have some of the coolness rub off on it.

And this goes beyond the grille, look at the Altima VS G35 coupes and their general shape. Even the new Chevy Malibu is taking tons of styling ques from the Camaro.

i can't quite put my finger on it, but the exterior design is smooth and organic, and the interior just looks somewhat generic and angular. the center stack looks thrown together.

maybe it's just me.

Fewer buttons than the other ones, but the question is how do all of those displays work together.

Eh never mind it looks like a PITA:

Three knobs for climate, two for radio. Everything else is too complicated.

Indeed. And automatic climate control doesn't require eleven buttons. My pathfinder had a fan setting of 'auto' and the temp blend knob had temperature indicators. Set it to 18C and Auto, hit the remote start from inside the office, and in ten minutes you're in a nice toasty vehicle.

That was a '98, fer chrissakes.

The optional "My Ford Touch" gives the dash a much cleaner look. I didn't choose that option as I've never liked auto climate control.

It wouldn't surprise me if the designers focused on making the MyFordTouch solution beautiful, and just slapped the less expensive Sync solution in as an afterthought for rental car markets and us manual tranny drivers.

Actually you can get the MFT in the manual versions of the Fusion. I just chose not to get it The main reason I picked the Fusion is that the manual version has lots of options to choose from. Must have options for me are memory seats, heated seats, and a sunroof. I don't think there is another midsize car available with a manual and those options for under 30k.

The only thing that's complicated here are the 2 stalks but after a few hours you get the hang of it. The only issue there is that cruise control is on the right stalk VS being on the steering wheel.
