Basically, Jeep claimed that the H2's grille had 7 slots like the Jeep always had and this would confuse the customers into thinking the H2 on the GM Hummer showroom floor was a new Jeep. Stupid claim.

Might be. I hadn't read that as any sort of rationale for the lawsuit, but it was ten years ago and I was still enjoying barley at lunch then, so it may be a bit blurry.

we bought a Ford in 2000 to replace a VW that had 500k on it, my wife was not happy. Now she has almost 400K on the Ford she feels that it may be a good truck, but it is no Vanagon.

I'm more of a hatchback guy anyway, and you can load up a Focus SE with heated seats and sport packages and stuff with a stick, so at some point I'll probably go that route.

I was dickin' around with the "build your own" thingy and scared myself with the cost of a Focus as you describe. That got me to looking at the Fusion. When the '13 pics popped up, I really got interested.

List was like $20k the way I had it - no sync bullshit, just cold weather, sport package, and some minor stuff. 21 with a sunroof.

Considering you can't even get a 4dr Golf with a stick anymore, I thought that was pretty reasonable.

Columbus "International" Auto Show is next Thur-Sun. Not sure if they will have the 2013 Fusion there or not. Looks like they had one at the Cleveland show a couple weeks ago. The wife and I are headed up Thur to look at Full-Size SUV's. I'll let you know if they have one on display. The Columbus show is always a wet blanket compared to Detroit, but if the wife wants to go look for a new vehicle for her I'm not complaining.

No shit. My wife just bought a TDI 4 door with a manual- I never would have guessed that the gasser was only available with an auto. How odd.

.....are Ford's "Select-Shift" transmissions. These have paddle shifters and a manual mode that let you take total control of the shifting.

Check out the new 2013 Taurus that is hitting dealerships this month if you want to see this new style paddle shifter Ford is selling. It is standard on all 2013 Taurus on all trim levels, not just the SHO.

They will offer a six-speed manual on the 1.6 EcoBoost.

Unfortunately, only 20% of the population of the United States can drive a manual transmission.
