I was dickin' around with the "build your own" thingy and scared myself with the cost of a Focus as you describe. That got me to looking at the Fusion. When the '13 pics popped up, I really got interested.

Considering you can't even get a 4dr Golf with a stick anymore, I thought that was pretty reasonable.

I was at ~$26K and looking at the titanium edition. My mistake.

The 1.6 Eco is listed with a 6-speed manual... Just not the 2.0 Eco

Columbus "International" Auto Show is next Thur-Sun. Not sure if they will have the 2013 Fusion there or not. Looks like they had one at the Cleveland show a couple weeks ago. The wife and I are headed up Thur to look at Full-Size SUV's. I'll let you know if they have one on display. The Columbus show is always a wet blanket compared to Detroit, but if the wife wants to go look for a new vehicle for her I'm not complaining.

All of the automatics......
.....are Ford's "Select-Shift" transmissions. These have paddle shifters and a manual mode that let you take total control of the shifting.
Check out the new 2013 Taurus that is hitting dealerships this month if you want to see this new style paddle shifter Ford is selling. It is standard on all 2013 Taurus on all trim levels, not just the SHO. They will offer a six-speed manual on the 1.6 EcoBoost. Unfortunately, only 20% of the population of the United States can drive a manual transmission. It IS what it IS. Cheers. If you want a hot rod, this summer Ford will launch the Focus ST with a six-speed manual, Recaro seats, and a 250 hp 2.0 EcoBoost engine. See the Focus ST here: http://www.ford.com/cars/focus/focusst/
