Just gather it all up into a wad and duct tape it into a ziplock bag and stuff it under the cargo net. Problem solved!

Just checked in to see the finished article, other than the flat paint that is NOT a rat build, Im quite impressed, it looks very tidy. I looked at one of those little hondas for tug duty, My wee suzuki came up though so that was that.
Well done, it looks great.

Thanks!
I got all three wheels off the ground over a cattlebridge today! Wheeee! I really hope the deal with the CB900C goes through. I want to paint it all nice to match the blue/white deco chair, and make a white vinyl tonneau cover and such. :3 |

Fingers crossed for ya. That would make a great tug.

I cut the square-stock arm off the front subframe thingy, and bolted the front mount straight to the bracket/plate through one of the holes that was originally just holding the plate on.
This brings the chair 8 to 10" closer to the tug, for a track width of around 38". It's a little easier to fly the chair now (although I put the last of my "ballast" in the gas tank before heading back up the road, so that might have had something to do with it), but it's not crazy-easy. The steering is much, much lighter, though. The mounting arms aren't screwed all the way out anymore, either, and it doesn't slew nearly as much when getting on the loud-twisty-thing hard after shifting gears. Despite my inexperience, I'm gonna go out on a limb and go on record saying that I think that 38" is about the right track width for a Velorex on a lightweight tug. ![]() Hmmm! Looks like the top mount slipped already. -_-' ![]()

Tomorrow, I figure I will probably break the Hawk, break myself, or both....
I have a conference on Friday at Blackwater Falls (former home of the infamous Blackwater 100). I plan to try to pilot the junkpile Hawk+Velorex combo through FSR 13 (aka Canaan Loop Road) to get there. http://goo.gl/maps/HLql7 http://wvbike.org/~trails/canaan_loop/ This is very dumb of me. It looks pretty treacherous. There's a rock cliff I'll have to go down, and several river crossings. The rock cliff is most worrisome (I'm just glad I'll be going down instead of up -- I think!). If it rains, I'll probably wimp out. I think I could make it fine if the Hawk was solo, with mah knobbies, but I am a little worried about breaking that skinny lil' Velorex frame. :3 Wish me luck! I'll try to shoot a little video if I can figure a way to clamp my camera onto my helmet. ![]()

The test of success will be if the computers I'll be hauling in the sidecar trunk still work when I get there. >:3

I screwed an L-bracket under one of the screw holes that the visor goes in. The camera picks up a lot of wind noise, though. So I stuck some tape over the microphone grille, but it didn't help much. :<
I almost wimped out when I realized just how bald my back tire was getting. But I swapped front-back when I got home today, so I think I have enough tread to climb rocks now..... >_> I guess we will see! I'm going to be all if I break something and get stuck out there..... Maybe I should take an extra battery and some cables and 6011 rod so I can emergency weld if I have to.... I doubt there will be much traffic on that road on a weekday! Then again, I think the bad section is only 6-8 miles from the conference center, so I guess I can walk that far if I have to. :3
