Spring Fling at the Cabins May 4-5, 2012

Well believe it or not, I'm still in the cabin biz and so it's time to have another gathering.

We've actually lowered our rates for 2012 so I can't give as deep a discount as in years past but how does 35% off any cabin for that weekend sound. Should work out pretty similar to the deals in the past. Also as always, tent campers are welcome for $10 per tent per night. You can reserve a cabin online through our web site. Just put "Spring Fling" in the special needs field to be sure you receive the discount.

Friday 5/4/12 Early Bird ride - This will be a dual sport ride with as much dirt as possible. Friday night, we'll have a open grill and a campfire for those wanting to relax with an adult beverage of choice and tell lies. So plan on bringing something to grill if you like.

Saturday 5/5/12 Spring Fling Ride - This will be more suited to adventure bikes and large dual sports. Mostly twisty pavement and gravel roads. I have been exploring lots of great riding to the South of the cabins and want to share these areas with you guys. I promise something new for everyone. We'll probably be too tired to cook so I was thinking of hitting an inexpensive restaurant on our way home.

Sunday 5/6/12 optional ride - I can meet folks for a couple hours of riding before heading home. We'll probably head East as that is on most people's way home.

That's a rough outline and of course it is subject to change based on everyone's input. Looking forward to hearing from you all. Joe

I want to make it. I'll be over at Deal's Gap Motorcycle Resort for the 2-stroke meet the whole week before that weekend. I'll just need to figure out how to load my KLX on the truck along with a couple 2-strokes. Should be able to figure that out.

I'll get to the cabin web site to make reservations.

Great to hear RevBill. I just added a list of who's coming in the original post. I will update it as I get more confirmed riders. I just booked my first cabin that weekend to a group of riders who'll be on Sport Tourers. They aren't on ADV Rider (Yet) but they are excited to be there during our little rally and will likely join us for Friday night's open grill.

On a real positive note... If you remember all the trouble I was having with my DR 350 starting last time, well I think I finally got it sorted out. I was getting tired of pushing it up the hill just to get it started. Bike runs great now. I can loft the front wheel in 2nd gear now with a blip of the throttle. Very happy now.

So what did you find that cured your 350 starting blues?

I can't be sure what exactly cured it but I suspect the biggest culprit was the main jet needle being installed wrong. The way it was before, the needle was sitting about 1/16 - 1/8 inch too high which would surely flood the engine on cold start up. I did go through and completely clean out all of the jets and readjusted the valves for good measure. I also replaced the resistor in the spark plug wire with a 1/8" piece of copper and cleaned all of the connectors to the coil. Like I said before, it runs great. Started it in 3 kicks this morning.

Wingam00, you going to make it for this ride?
