Hey Ric, is Jeff riding with us? If so, I'll add him to our list.

If gas prices do not go below $1.00 a gallon I should be there at least for the Friday ride.

I'm thinking we'll definitely head back over to Graham County Friday and try to go up over Squally. Seems to be more tolerance for hooligans over there and more opportunities to get our bikes dirty. For Saturday, I was thinking of doing our more traditional route over Leatherman Gap, Dick's Creek and over to explore more roads on the reservation ending with a descent of Heintooga into Cherokee. I have to be in Bryson City by 7pm ready to watch belly dancing.

I updated the list but I just remembered that Lonewolf is bringing one or two more riders with him so we'll likely be over 10 riders. I'm getting excited as we're getting closer. I still have rooms in the house and camp sites available for that weekend.

Hey Joe,

I will be mountain biking at Tsali that same weekend, our group starts riding mid morning and we normally finish around 2:00. I always drag a motorcycle along for afternoon rides.*
I will drop by your place Friday or Saturday afternoon, I'm always looking for another place to stay and yours sounds great.*

You're welcome to stop by and have a look around but we'll be for sure out riding Friday and Saturday afternoons. Stop by Friday evening and join us for our open grill and fire. Bring your beverages of choice with something to burn on the grill and join us. Better yet, ditch your mtn bike buddies and join us on Friday. Should be a hoot!

We are coming up Thursday, I'm bringing 4 riders ( including me ). At this rate I'll need a bigger trailer! WCU is sending my girls home for the summer the same weekend. I've got to find room in my trailer for all their stuff too!
This ride was perfectly timed. Dual purpose trip, get in some good ridin and bring home my girls too.

Well you could kick out the other 3 bikes and tell them they have to ride back home.

What time do you guys plan on starting out for the Friday ride? Also, would a KLR be able to handle the trails on Friday or is the Friday ride going to be more suited to lighter bikes? I'm trying to figure out the best time to arrive.

Iirc there were 3 KLRs on last year's Friday ride. We all survived . The smaller bikes certainly had an easier time of it but it was all passable by a KLR. Unless Joe is drastically increasing the planned difficulty level then a set of 50/50 tires and a willingness to try (and risk some damage, though it's not highly likely) should get you through everything. If you're planning on coming out on a shiny bike with street oriented tires and hard panniers you might want to hold out till Sat.

I'm hoping my business trip gets pushed back until the week following Spring Fling, in which case there will definitely be one KLR on Friday's ride (mine). However I'll be at best a maybe until much closer to the event.

I'm shooting for leaving between 9 and 10. Friday will be the more challenging day but will definitely be doable on a KLR. Knobbies and a 14T front sprocket are recommended. Anyone arriving later than 10 can join us somewhere along the way.
