I don't trust those CREE-based replacement bulbs. For starters, they don't have the same dimensions that the traditional incandescent bulbs have, so the light source won't be at the optimal position (the position that the reflector was designed for).

Of course, those factory-fitted led bulbs (like the ones in the low beam of the new water-cooled boxer GS, or in some Audi cages) are a whole 'nother thing - those reflectors were designed for them.

I see your point... But have a look at some of the videos on youtube. Granted, you can't really tell from the ffootage,, but the lighting sure seems pretty solid. For the price, maybe I'll order a couple so I can try it on the next time wa light fails :)

Which reminds me, since there's such a large area painted black inside the spotlight, next time I may cover it in tin foil a see if there's a difference

Karbono, perfect aiming on the Givis: complementing the low beam to the sides.

But... isn't your low beam aimed a little low? Maybe it's the camera angle, but it looks to me that the light pattern in the ground is too close to the front of the bike.

I'm sure you are aware of the "measure bulb distance to the ground, mark this height in a wall, back off the bike 10m from the wall (level surface), climb on the bike, the low beam cutoff line should be at the marked point" alignment procedure?
