Thumb Hat's off to Aunt Sylvia's "happy snaps"

But what sucks me right in to your work is the "periphery" photo's you capture... or "Aunt Sylvia's happy snaps" as I admiringly refer to them. Many of these photo's (with seemingly little to do directly with the action/passage of the rally itself) - at least in my mind - helps to put the setting and environment that the Safari passes through in context.

A rally is more than just a motorsport event conducted across a dry dusty desert somewhere, and your eye for the surrounding vistas, or small details Ross, help define the "spirit" of what makes this Aussie event so special...

It's not just the cars, the bikes and competition out on the tracks and trails that make the Safari what it is... it's the people and the places that it visits that leave a mark on a person... and Sylvia, you capture that in aces with your photography!

Thank's again, I would relish the chance to flip through an "Aunt Sylvia's special edition album" one day. Cheers

Troy C.

Still processing all the impressions from the Safari, what stick to mind, beside the great organisation, landscapes, Aussies and the fact that they ride on the wrong side of the road is the fact that this is WITHOUT any doubt in my mind the best prep for anyone ever contemplating Dakar (unfortuantely i cannot speak for Dos Sertoes) or taking this rallye lark seriously!

What an event!

I'd recommend this event to anyone, to all people involved in organising, running or sponsering, well done!!

I didn't know the South American countries drive on the left side of the road.

haha. bert here ant. nice words.
unlike many others, i thought i'd avioded the flu you were carrying around.
until the last couple of days. very fatigued. either its your dutch disease or its melancholy following the end of yet another awseome year.
really just want it to keep on going.
how is redneck/carrion/connoneyejoe going with his injuries?

jason, nice to meet you too. congrats on finishing and getting the caldecott award. full cred for hefting the big BM, and keeping it together day after day. hows the blisters? those stick on gels really work. just leave them on till they rot off - which is only a couple of days under safari conditions.

BY & Bobcat. excellent stuff.14 & 15. how goods that.
chainsaw dave. legend. 2010 xr400 kicked it to the finish, 2012 wr250r wrung it to a 100% finish. epic
Bounds & Jones, 13th & 19th great work given they'd each bought a picnic knife to a gun fight.

murchison & gascoyne again next year. it just keeps on getting better & better.

moar pics pls

wish I could find a picture of me stuck in the grid

Bert, fetid swamp is you? its even funnier to put a face to a name sometimes

I really hope I can figure out how to get back down there, too.

Youre right Jaybo i did learn a TON, thanks primarily to you and Ben. Soup, my god... I the healing properties of Ramen in the right circumstances, like ancient Chinese medicine ALso to Ben Y, and Francesco, my guardian angel. Here I am naming names but yeah, I really do want to come backand do that again.
