Hey gang! Wonder if I can draw upon your collective knowledge. I'm shopping around for a new Honda Fit.
Do you have a local Honda dealer that you've had a good experience with? Do y'all find that you get a better price if you drive out to the sticks? A little googling seems to me to show that prices out on the Eastern Shore are cheaper than in Bawlmer - I wonder if that bore out. Thanks for your time, gang. |

Not any cheaper, perse. We've bought cars locally, Fredericksburg, and within the 3 county southern MD AOR.
Are you a member of any credit unions? If so, they normally have pre-arranged dealerships you can contact. Emailing has been remarkably reliable for negoiating with many dealerships for us. 1) Get a list together of the all the vehicle features I want by factory codes. Usually this can be done by using the "build my car" feature on the OEM website 2) Look up all the dealerships within a 200 mile range. There are usually 7-10. 3) Send the same email to all of them 4) Email should state: --Looking to buy in the next xx Weeks --Looking for vehicle with items in 1) above --Please provide your OTD price. Please list any incentives/rebates details separately. I usually get 4 or so offers back. Pick the one that suits your fancy. DO NOT go to the dealership to until they have provided you a written response (unless you like that sort of torture).

I've got limited experience with Honda dealers... but we did just purchase a Honda Odyssey this past summer (haters gonna hate on the minivan) from Honda of Dulles. While the experience at the dealer was fine, the paperwork, which they completed after the fact was a total clusterfuck on their end. We were pre-approved from our credit union at 1.99 which we knew they couldn't match (buying used), and we were trading in my wife's Hyundai. First they misplaced the bank check which my wife had driven all the way from Fredericksburg to Dulles to deliver. Then they misplaced the transference of title of the Hyundai... in doing so they wouldn't release the title to the Odyssey to our credit union. The credit union contacts us, threatening to repossess... what a fuck up. It took over a month to get sorted.
Okay, so shit happens... I get that. My problem is that the dealer never once contacted us to say, 'Our bad. Is there anything we can do?' This, despite the fact that we had numerous calls into them to get the matter sorted. So while we like the van just fine, I won't be going back to Honda of Dulles again. |

Is Someone looking to get a new toy? Just to let you know Cedar Point Federal Credit union has really low rates for new vehicles and motorcycles. Anyone can join. I financed my GSA there. MC / Car rates as low as 1.99% for 36-60 months or 72 months, 25k min. 84 months 2.49%, 30k min.
Heres the link. http://www.cpfcu.com/Rates-Fees/loans/vehicle.html

I do it a little different, Go to edmunds.com find vehicle you want, build with options, it will show you the invoice price, that is the price you pay or LESS. If the dealer won't deal go to another. You can usually get this with in two dealers. Rebates and incentives can be added to lower the price below invoice. Go to KBB or NADA and find out what your used vehicle is worth, take this printout and the edmunds price sheet with you. Never tell the dealer what you wanna pay monthly, thats what they will base the deal on. Financing is last after other prices are set. Usually with trade in you can do better selling out right. Expect the dealer to usually give you average or less for your used car no matter what the shape. It will take some finagling to get more.
