Is a YSR50 suitable fodder for Battle Scooters?

I picked up a YSR50 project the other day. I purused a few minibike sites and wasn't very impressed. As such, I choose to post my project pictures here.



Its sans fairings... and I'm thinking about making a nakedish YSR.

OK. I don't really like the GSXR tail that came with the bike. I'm looking at options:

1. Cut the bottom of the tail off and make it more cafe looking



2. Adapt the cafe tail to it (my arse won't fit the way it is right now



3. Make something out of metal and use the original seat

I love YSR's and the Honda NSR's. I own a Kitted MB5. Let's keep posting tiny motos in here until they either make us a sub forum or change Battle Scooters to "Wee Warriors" or some other equally corny name.

After fighting with Duplicrap primer all week (it kept lifting my old paint and making me sand again), I purchased some NAPA two stage primer and it worked like a charm.



I also received my headlight bucket today. It appeared that a XL125 sized headlight would be perfect. I searched e*ay long and far... and ultimately found that I could get a brand new OEM Honda bucket for $23. Imagine...some dude was trying to sell one for $99 but they're still available from Honda. I tried some old SL70 headlight ears but they're too short. Slightly longer ones are on order.



I received some, but not all, of my new stickers.

My first moto was a ysr. Of course, within a few months, it was not fast enough for me


On a good day, it ran 45 mph, except if the road tilted up. At the time there was a kit from DK, iirc. It was a beautiful expansion chamber and silencer, a jet kit,, and a bunch of little filter things that you drilled the top of the air box and inserted. DK figured it out, plug and play, just install the parts, and go.

Now, hills were no problem, and 60 was the top speed. Only, i pissed off the landlord when i would come home late at night, it was L O U D

I wanted one of those in the worst way. I remember I mentioned that to this guy I worked with and he said, "yeah, I had three of them." I said what happened to them. He responded with, "I sold them to (another co-worker) for $800."

As a scooter owner, I think they belong. They're both bikes for guys who are secure in their manhood. :)

I had a major setback a couple weeks ago. I tried to paint it like a Ducati Tricolore but the paint ate into the paint lines and turned into a big mess. I had to resand and reprimer the whole mess.

Frustrated, I decided to paint it one solid color. I don't think this is going to go well with red wheels... except maybe at Christmas.

I bought some longer headlight ears off e*ay.



And some sweet turn signals. I don't know if they'll work with a 6V YSR but what the hey.



Here are some temporary hero shots. Its seems like its missing something. Granted, the red wheels will go the way off the Dodo bird, but it still seems a little naked.

After looking at bikes on the interweb, I determined my headlight was mounted too high. I lowered it and think it looks better.
