Hi Mr. Walrus - aw, we weren't in full school bus mode for that video. No camping gear!
I try and keep Matt under 100 around 25 mph when I'm onboard, I don't even want to know what happens when I'm not there.

Day 5: 3/15/12 Total milage 165
PSR - Goler - Barker Ranch - Mengel - Geologist Cabin - Mengel - Goler - Ballarat - Charcoal Kilns - Goldfish Pond - PSR

Okay, next up - Barker Ranch

I think most people reading this know the history of Barker Ranch, but here it is just in case.

Can you read that? Here it is, bigger...

Not sure what Matt’s doing, but this photo makes me laugh.

We had perfect riding temps this trip...

The remains of the main house.

Matt took this pic of Barker Ranch in 2007.
He said it was pretty creepy.

Here we are, being completely stupid, as usual...

Sigh. Ruh - tards!

Okay, I gotta go eat dinner! All this crazy is making me hungry...

One of the Death Valley cones is off the market!!
Captured the Teakettle Junction guy yesterday. I love him so much. Thanks for putting him out there Kelly.
We had already come up Lippencott and passed right by the other one (GPS-Silver Platter). Took a break, punched in the coordinates and marked the spot. Went down to Teakettle to see if that one was still there-and he was. Took that one, and headed back out to find the one we passed. Found it---took a few pics and tucked him back in the rocks for another lucky ADVer to find. Had a blast on the treasure hunt.

This one is still out there. Happy hunting.

Time to go back about 3 pages and catch up on the report.

Woooo!! Go Aimee!!

That is so Mucking awesome! So Monkey-Fighting awesome!

I'm soooo stoked!

I was just telling Matt that it didn't look like any of the n00bs were even looking for the cones
and it made me really sad to think that those little ADV guys were just going to rot away in Death Valley.

Your little guy (the tea kettle junction one) is based on these - a Japanese Otama (tadpole)

I hope he works for you - "you will be calm, smile a little."
Also, they seem to work pretty well for good riding juju...

Thanks for posting up - this makes me sooo happy!
I hope someone else will be inspired to find the one still at Lippincott..

PS - yeah, you're in good company with larryboy!

LittleWan I love the reports you do. They are really fun and informative. You guys always seem to have a good time, wear lots of smiles and have something for everyone. Way to go.

heh. Me, too.

Bigdon and Redog, glad you liked the jumping!
It was exhausting - we did at least 6 of those photos and all that gear is heavy.

And, look at the massive amount of crap I keep in my pockets...

Aww, thanks, Scott_PDX!
We have too much fun on these rides - doing these ride reports helps spread it around...
Glad you're hanging out with us!

Day 5: 3/15/12 Total mileage 165
PSR - Goler - Barker Ranch - Mengel - Geologist Cabin - Mengel - Goler - Ballarat - Charcoal Kilns - Goldfish Pond - PSR

We left Barker Ranch via the garbage dump.
I didn’t take pics, it was too yucky.

Mengel Pass, here we come...

I forced Matt to stop so I could take a photo of him at the cairn.

Shot a little video going down.
I knew not to expect much (and neither should you).
Mengel Pass 2012 - It’s almost as if some guy spent 30 minutes moving all the big rocks, making it “better.”

Stella’s cabin

We didn’t stop.

Matt wanted to enjoy a snack at the Geologist cabin and we could see a dust cloud headed that way...

Race to the cabin!!
GO!!

If your cylinders were as wide as a Toyota you'd understand.

We had a 4 day ride planned but ended up leaving early because of the crazy wind on sat and Sunday

The wind ruined our tent, ripped the rain fly and bent our poles.

We had a great time in titus canyon but the rest sucked

I take so many trips that most trips I take the time off unpaid and so does Jill so we figured we will just save 2 vacation days and come back next month

I am going to Baja on the 13th so that will make me feel better. Lol

Loving the ride report. Btw !
