The Chicago Bulls of the 1990s

They used to say one of the keys to the success of the Bulls was that their scrimmages were so tough that games seemed easy. They got nothing on my Eight and Under Girls Soccer Team. Our scrimmages are typically 1-0 bloodbaths, complete with shoving matches and timeouts for unsportsmanlike conduct. We've won our first three games by a combined score of 41-4. Those girls are killers, I tell ya. Killers!

Why not? They're tough. They're aggressive. They like to win. We keep a pretty tight lid on any unpleasantness, but we don't stop practice every time someone ends up on their butt.

i see a problem, i toss kids off the feild for stuff like that. i do not tolerate it.

big diff. between playing hard and playing mean

i'd rather lose every game with good sports, than win any game with any of my players engaging in unsportslike behavior.

tough and aggressive and winning is good. shoving and unsportsmanlike behavior is not.

especially in an 8 and under league.

We have a couple unrelenting, fuckstick coaches in my son's U8 indoor league. Somehow, in their feeble minds, coaching these kids to run the other team into the boards is acceptable. The league has had to resort to implementing a penalty kick against the offending team to try to quell it. It has taken a bit of work to keep from telling my son, who happens to be the biggest kid on the field in most games, to go after the kids pulling this shit. No room for this shit at the younger levels.

Jim, have you implemented a bounty program yet? That's the next big motivational tool in youth coaching.

Imagine how much fun they will be to coach when they reach puberty!

You'll be happy to know my little band of miscreants won 8-2 this morning over the Sharks. The only reason it was that close was because the Sharks had a defender who was at least a foot taller than anyone else on the team. She looked to be about nineteen years old. Our demands to see her birth certificate went unanswered. Do you guys think we should protest to the league commissioner?

GO WILDCATS!

I think you should have instructed your team to chop block the ruffian.

Jeebus. You and your team sound like a nightmare. In addition to being proud of constant unsportsmanlike behavior and shoving, now you're being a pain about the other team. Sure would like to hear what other parents and coaches think of your team.

Of course you should complain to the commissioner. Why wouldnt you?

This thread has given me a better understanding of why parents punch coaches now.
