Let me guess, you're the one that ended up with the budget priced Arlen Ness Vision.

Did you talk like a punk, when you were young as well ?

What a joke. To talk about comfort for these police officers on a motorcycle is foolish. These officers aren't getting on those bikes and riding to Dawson Creek every morning...stuck in the saddle for long periods of time. They get on the bike, ride a few minutes, get off and write a ticket and then carry on. I'd seriously doubt any officer rides for more than an hour at a time and for that, they could be sitting on a 2x4 and get by just fine. They're not on tour, they're at work!

The average 600 cc crotch rocket would be fine. Lots of get up and go, maneuverable and nimble as hell. Light weight so's that if you drop it, you can pick it up again. So they're crouched over for a few half hour periods in a day...cry me a river. It's work, it's not supposed to be fun. If it was fun, you'd call it going to vacation every morning.

And yes, Canadian companies need to be more competitive or at least be willing to treat the people that make the decisions to some "perks".

If anyone thinks this is about safety or money, they're full of shit. This kind of nonsense is taking place at every level of government and you need not look too far to find it. It's probably one of the root causes for governments being so far in debt.

YT Dave: I'm sure you wouldn't appreciate sitting on a 2x4 or crouched over in a cramped position at work any more than these police officers would. In fact I think that you would either try and do something about it or quit the job if that was the case.

Sure work doesn't necessarily have to be fun but no one should have to put up with discomfort at work for any length of time no matter what job you do.

I see Action in Esquimalt is now a Victory dealer, looks like a clever business move to me.

A leg fairing without a front? Must be the equivalent of an engine guard.

I actually saw a few of them being ridden the other day, accompanied by none other than Saanich police on their BMWs.

It's such a a idiotic looking motorcycle. The above image perfectly depicts what its best suited for.

I wonder if they'll be at the VISC open house today. It would be interesting to see one on the timed course.

Nice cupholder. Is there a tray for the doughnuts that doesn't show in that picture?

I saw one the other day when I was out with a student. Because I'm so smart I didn't put two and two together at the time, but I do remember commenting that it was a huge-arse motorcycle. Now I know what I saw!

If the guys actually riding the bikes are happy with them, great. If not, it was a bad move.

I'm torn on the issue: Yes I would like to see Canadian Tax dollars spent within Canada. However I also don't want more tax dollars being spent than needed.

As for the issues of an inside deal, or an investigation: it all depends if the purchase was put out as an RFP or an RFB. If it was a bid, all bidders need to be qualified prior, and the law says the lowest bid must be awarded the contract. If it's a proposal, all parties must be qualified, but the person paying the bill can do whatever the hell they want.

"Bids" on big projects are dying real fast.
