2012 Webster Pass Opening Date Poll

The cornice on Webster Pass is usually conquerable around the end of July?

What say ye this year? the first year our snowiest month has had no snow (at least down here)...

Has anyone had a look at it recently from the top of Kenosha?

The cornice on July 6, 2009:

Of course in that thread I linked to... Flyinghorse mentioned getting 34+ inches of snow in Rollinsville on April 19th.

I probably just jinxed us

Late August. Winter just hasn't hit yet! Last year we got more snow in April and May than we did in February and March...I sure hope that's not the case again!

I am going with June 1 because that is my last date to try to ride it before heading out to western Washington. Won't happen but I love that view of the pass, Geek.

Wow.. I'm surprised with all the June predictions.

Has it EVER opened in June?

Mind you.. its 80 degrees out there right now.... perhaps the poll should be "which will happen first... Webster Pass will open or Geek will figure out how to get his 950 back together"

If this doesn't happen, I am quite concerned. Even as a four year resident of Colorado, this dry winter is relatively concerning. The last three years I have had snow on my lawn (East facing front door). Now..it's dry and been so for a while.

I agree. Although earlier local riding would be good, I would prefer less fire danger and more water in the rivers and reservoirs. I don't mind driving an hour or two to ride Moab or Montrose, if that means we can get some more snow in the high country!

I will go with mid July some time. A couple of weeks ago I drove by on the way back from the cabin and there is still a LOT of snow up there.

Snow on your lawn doesn't always equate to snow in the high country, and vice versa.
Last year broke records at elevation in parts of Colorado.
