Wildwood New Jersey

Hey,
Im a visitor to the south Jersey area for the summer. I've seen these sandy tracks just a little bit inland of Wildwood,in the Rio Grande area, and heard a few stories about the races they have in the summer. Does anyone have a link to a web page about this or know anything about the races/trail rideing in the area? I have no experience raceing, but i'm very interested in it. advice? concerns?

-Stan

Pretty sure you are posting in the wrong forum but I can pretty much answer you question in several parts.

#1 There is NO legal trail riding in New Jersey unless you are on private property and have the landowners permission.

#2 The Races that you hear about (probably Thunder on the Sand) are an organized event actually held on the beach in Wildwood.

#3 If you do get caught riding on private property or on State Lands you will likely get charged with trespass and it is possible that your machine will be confiscated in which case you will pay towing, storage, fines and court costs.

#4 The ONLY ways that you can ride off road in New Jersey are in organized events, (Hare Scrambles, Enduros or Motocross) where the organizer or promoter has received permission from the landowners, the New Jersey Racing Commission, etc.

OR

If you own a street legal Dual Sport bike that is registered, insured and you are a licensed MC operator in which case you are allowed to ride in State Forest land & Wildlife Management Areas where you are limited to established dirt roads that are not posted as Nature Preserve where motor vehicles are not allowed. If the rangers can get their jeeps and trucks down the road you are legal anything tighter than that and you are illegal (for example, single track and firecuts)

The best place to find out about off road events is www.ecea.org the site of the East Coast Enduro Association who's member clubs host Enduros and Hare Scrambles. You will need to join the AMA and ECEA to enter these events.
