There must be lots of places to send R90's and R100's that, with a big enough cheque, they return to you "as new"? Talked to a Norton guy in MN, who basically "zero times" Nortons.

Because it doesn't fit their "technology for technology's sake" paradigm.

I wish I could remember that Boxer model I'm thinking of. It's driving me crazy
I will say it would be interesting "experiment" to reskin the F800R to retro character for $10K

Sure this one must be long gone, but there are nice ones out there.

The Downturn...

In 2007, BMW motorrad came up with the custom bobber concpet. There were a bunch of different seat, color and headlight options that the consumer could special order- Unfortunately, the economic downturn killed it. BMW has had amazing sales quarters for the last year, who knows, it may become a reality(?)

A Boxer/Sportster... it is pretty cool. I remember when that "pick-a-bike" thing was going around. I'm looking at XR1200Xs right now. But if this were avail..?

Just buy a Moto Guzzi V7 - it is basically a modern R70/5, but without the droopy tits

Why doesn't BMW...the answer

I thought I was already in heaven with my new R1200R-Classic with Wunderlich Trophy S fairing but now all I want is that Panda...love the looks !
Fark, that could be my last motorcycle because what could be better...
Modern bike, sporty and classic looking and still practical enough to take on a trip...
For some people the R1200R with Wunderlich R90S fairing might be better since the C12R commit the rider to more forward lean...I like it...

I loved that when all the concept sketches came out. I think they would sell.

But the point about 'refurbed' boxers is also true; there is a UK company who will basically take a donor R80 and craft a bobber, scrambler, retro BMW for about 4500. And they look very nice indeed.

Plus plenty of places still service and care for older K and R bikes in stock trim.

But it did exist. And obviously, it didn't sell very well.

(Unless I'm thinking of a mid 90's R100 mystik, but I think it was much newer).
Looks so much like the Honda CB600F it's scary. Coincidentally the CB600 didn't sell well for Honda either, however this style of bike has made a come back.
