Little update: was bidding on a Vespa gts 250 on eBay. Great condition with really low miles, 2400. Seller and I were going back and forth talking, but I was outbid at $3000. I emailed the seller and told him if the first deal falls through, I'll give him $3000 for it....here's hoping!

[QUOTE=go.duesouth;18370574]The Kymco Downtown 300i is another one you can throw into the mix. Motorcycle.com 2010 scooter of the year. There is another thread about it if your interested. QUOTE]

Seconded

We just had a local CLadd for a Bevery 500 with 600 miles on it for $3500. What are new leftovers going for and is this a good deal? (he wondered aloud)

I find no problem with them and apparently neither do the scooter cannonballers who rode GTS 250-300s on freeways (and other roads with 65-75mph speed limits).

Having said that I tour on a Scarabeo 500ie or BV 500ie. I've done trips of 3400-3700 miles on each of them. My Vespa touring has been limited to 1,200-1,400 mile trips. Though I know many who have done much longer ones including members of this forum and http://modernvespa.com

I traded in the Burgman 400 we used to won for the BV 500. I did not find it comfortable on 1,000+ mile trips and like at least one of the other responders found it far too cumbersome for quick, easy round town trips. Plus, I can get away with parking my Vespa in places that would get me a ticket with the Burgman. I can even park the Scarabeo/BV in places where they give tickets to motorcycles/maxiscoots but because they are such a classic scooter design folks don't realize quite how big/fast they are.

Cant say, as I have a Kymco People S 250 but klaviator has a Sports City 250. He has put a bunch of miles on it and likes it a lot. He may be along and give you a report. He has given a review on his Sports City 250 if you want to do a search.

If it has the ignition disabler make sure you get both sets of keys. If not and you loose the one key you will be screwed. I believe you need the master key to get another key programed.

And congratulations.

Nice Scooter. Same motor as my Sport City 250. I was going to buy one but then found the Sport City for $3744 OTD and couldn't pass it up. I did a couple of test rides on the BV, one solo and one with the wife on the back. It performed well on both rides easily going 80+ (on the speedo) with my wife on the back.

Congratulations on the new scoot. Good research resulting in an impeccable decision (so says a '06 BV250 rider). I'm a long time many multiples motorcycle owner/rider and while I can see myself having a motorcycle I now doubt I'll ever be without a capable scooter. I think you'll quite like the scoot and the all around utility/function.
