"South and East of the lake there is some good stuff also..."

Okay thanks for the info. Do any of the dead end roads east to the canyon overlooks (eg. Egypt, Early Weed, Peekabo) have particularly spectacular views?

We will be somewhat limited by gasolene range and can't explore them all.

North side of the lake roads definitely have some spectacular views.. Like 500 or 1000 ft cliffs over the lake.. Amazing.. Farther out you go the better the views... Hope it helps! Moto is perfect for the area because you can come so much so quickly..

Thought I'd mention that there is actually a pretty decent amount of good info on the Utah BLM's facebook page:

For example here is a stat from today:

Church Camp Fire – 5,950 acres
Clay Springs Fire – 93,787 acres
Millville Canyon Fire – 109 acres
Pole Creek Fire – 2,028 acres
Seeley Fire – 23,410 acres
Shingle Fire – 1,060 acres
Wolf Den Fire – 22,000 acres

Southern Utah experienced massive rainfall and flooding later in the afternoon yesterday:
http://www.ksl.com/?sid=21268985&nid...cid=featured-4

As a result some roads are now listed as rough/not recommended and impassable.

Contact the local office (contact info above) for any questions...

Do you think "impassable" applies to good off-hiway capable bikes?

Not at all, impassable means it should be a blast.. :) The only thing is if a road is completely washed out. I would check with the local station (first post contact info). But again, should be fine...

That's what I was hoping to hear.

Several years ago we started in on the Lockhardt Basin road where it comes out near Newspaper Rock and there was sign saying road washed out 60 miles ahead. We did not have enough gas to get there and back, but we decided to go ahead.

I think we saw the washed out place. It was barely a ripple in the road.

definitely.. There are tons of ride reports where the road is partially washed out and everyone always says "glad I'm on a bike!"

There are a couple gnarly roads that might be tough on big bikes particularly if they are loaded down. But all in all should be pretty much all doable indeed..
