character was not there for me on the Triumph...
Been riding since the '70's and have ridden many old Triumphs, BSA's, and Nortons (currently ride a Commando)...test rode a new Thruxton hoping it would combine modern reliability with the character of the original British twins but was sorely disappointed on that score, the bike worked great but had all the character of a mid 70's Honda 350. Rode a 2003 Ducati Monster the same day that DID have plenty of character so I bought it instead and FWIW with a change of seat and bars it has worked great for sport touring
