I thought it was quite interesting to see Colin win the CRT race. Even better when they had a spot in Park Ferme for him.

No offense to James Ellison, but I am not sure it is the bike that is the problem. But then again it is PBM, so maybe it is.

I was thinking about it too. Why not bring a GP to let's say Brazil instead?

How is it spending beyond their means? They built a world-class facility (I've been there, it's very nice, especially the pit facilities), they can afford the electric bill for the lights (which were installed at Dorna's request - the Qataris were happy to have the race in the daytime at that time of year, since the temps are relatively nice), they can write the check and not have it bounce, so why not hold a race there?

As fo rBrazil, the facility was terrible, and crowd control (something that is NOT a problem in Qatar ) rendered the facility dangerous.

On that logic, the whole series should be leased to the gulf states and the races can take place on the moon.

One possibility could have been to give the CRT bikes unlimited displacement and unlimited fuel.

I don't know how the organizers thought that equal displacement of prototype engine vs. production based engine could be a fair fight. But the 3 factories probably had a hand in those rules, no?

Such is the case in the rich Arabian states. There is lots we could talk about given the state of affairs there and why locals are interested in expensive things, whether anyone goes or not.
But I won't start the conversation!
But if they wanna spend millions so they can have bragging rights, or 50 local billionaires want to see it live and close to home, and I get to watch from the other side of the planet then I'll live with it.
Cheers,
E

All of the CRT bikes qualified within the 107% rule used in F1. Is their series a joke as well? Or do the rules apply differently? Seems to me that the CRTs behaved just fine. Edwards qualified within .8 of Rossi. So how long is it before a CRT qualifies above a factory bike? Not long I bet.

Pretty much my feelings as well. Saved me the typing

OOPS.

The teams I mean. How many facilities are there in the world that can accommodate GP, really? Even Laguna can't fit moto2 in. In most places the crowd draw is the concern, but in a place where some people are born with more money to throw around than some countries, we get Doha.

I'd add that (for example) Indy struggles to get enough people through the door, in my experience. The home of racing; the home of motorcycle racing I heard. Probably loses money to host the GP. But the GP needs tracks and will go wherever is possible.

At least Edwards has a valid excuse for the midfield finishes now. Unlike the last few years, when he didn't......

Get serious will you. Can you imagine the front grip problems Ducati would have with front grip in 1/6th gravity.
