2nd Annual Eastern Oregon May Tour

Four days and three nights of riding and camping fun, May 18 thu 21. Here's the planned route.

What I have in mind (subject to whimsy):
  • Friday, May 18: Depart Springtucky at a "reasonable" time in the AM. That would be after breakfast and/or hangover cures.Stop in Lakeview for fuel and provisions, then head to Hart Mountain hot Springs for the night.
  • Saturday: Ride to Fields for lunch, tool around on the Alvord playa , spend the night at Whitehorse Hot Springs.
  • Sunday: Ride to Jordan Valley for fuel and lunch, then north to Leslie Gulch. Stay at the campgground at the mouth of Leslie Gulch or at Succor Creek.
  • Monday, skedaddle home.
Any and all are welcome. Plan on bringing some firewood if you can. More details as they become available...

Prolly ride my own race Friday and hook up with y'all in Lakeview or at the Blue Sky Hotel (bonus points for those that know where that is)

Mostly paved, yes, but three 50+ mile stretches of good gravel.

Easy-Z kept up with us just fine on his Wee Strom last year. RideAbout mentioned the possibility of joining us on his KLR. It's up to you...

We had just located a mismarked gas line with the excavator. We were waiting for the gas company when you went by.

I might ride ahead and just wait for yous there,,ain't a more lovely place on the planet,,well, there are some in Idaho,,but ,,HELL YEAH!

[edit] to include derogatory comments regarding the mosquito swarms at certain bubbling, heated water, natural "slow cook your eggs if you take them swimming with you" venues.

I don't know what to say,,,

So far, my experience of eastern oregon in May has been relatively mosquito-free. At any rate, I haven't seen any big enough to carry you off... ...yet.

A really good idea for those who plan to attend -if you have no regular access to firewood-is to buy a bundle NOW and bring it with you. We had a feck of a time finding it in Lakeview last year...
