honda crf45x dual-sport conversion

i am looking to convert a honda crf450x to a dual sport in north carolina. can anyone give me insight on the hoops i must jump through? is it as easy as installing the conversion kit, getting inspection then heading to the tag office. anyone who has converted one, which kit seems to work the best?
