What an awesome report! Brings back memories of last year when I was, alas, sans bike, in Tintagel and Port Isaac... what a phenomenal place. And yes, the pasties are aw-sum! I thought again and again how nice scooting around on my DS would be and I hope I get back to do just that! Thanks for a great report!

So on the way home, I decided to waste a bit of time down at Lelant Estuary, another place for various reasons I've spent a lot of my time. When I was young I used to walk around the decaying wrecks of the old boats mixed in with working fleet sheltering for the winter. When I grew up I then laid up my boat here for the winter as the St.Ives boats had for hundreds of years before me.

Sadly that is now to be no more as a multinational has bought the surrounding areas and wish to change years of tradition. The skeletons of a bygone era are to be removed and the St.Ives fleet dispersing elsewhere for the winter months.

For now, until this happens this is still a fantastic place, at low tide it has old ship wrecks to look at and miles of shore to walk along in the peace and quiet, at high tide the pond like water gives an amazingly peaceful outlook.

The tide was in when I arrived.

I agree that there is some amazing light available to capture such wonderful images and while the camera may facilitate capturing pictures, you have the eye to see the shot. Very nicely done. And thanks for taking us along. That was a great ride.

So a quick look around the headland at Hayle Sand Bar and looking out to St.Ives Bay, at low tide this is miles of golden sand to stroll along or sit and relax, just remember the tide does come in!

And that, sadly, was the time to get back to London, the rat race and all the worries and stresses it entails.

All that stood between me and mundane was a 5 hour ride, the last activity to keep me sane while I withered away for a week, waiting for next weekend and the chance to ride again.

A quick stop at Stonehenge on the way home, trying my best to waste time before heading up the last leg to London.

I just flew over that area coming from the USA. It looks alot different from 38.000 feet. Your photos are beautiful. No camera will ever replace a good eye. You have one. Thanks for sharing.

There is some interesting history associated with those walls.

For several years in the '90s I worked on nearby Exmoor, in Somerset, from late March to mid May. The people I worked for had "enclosed" fields like these..... and there were a few walls extending into the common. "Had my grandfather finished those in time, that land would have been ours too," said the lady boss of the farm I worked on.

As it was they had "commoners rights" to graze the common. One of my tasks was to do the rounds by motorcycle at daybreak to count and check the cows on the common, which were not far off calving.
