What separates us from our competitors? Introducing Outback Motortek

What separates us from our competitors? Introducing Outback Motortek

Location

Many small and big dual-sport companies have distributors or retailers across North America, Europe, Australia etc. But only few have their own warehouses on all of these continents. Why would it be a big deal? When a customer orders something, he/she wants it ASAP. In most cases it’s only possible if the manufacturer has multiple warehouses on different continents designated to serve customers, distributors and retailers. It requires long-term planning and investment, strategic logistics, tailor-made bulk shipping solutions. Outback Motortek has it all.
Our North American warehouse is located in the Greater Toronto Area (Pickering, Ontario) with easy access to Hwy 401 and to one of the largest international airports in the world (Pearson International Airport, Toronto). The European Union warehouse and manufacturing facility is located in Hungary. It’s a “sweet spot” within Europe. Imagine that such mega-cities as Istanbul, London or Barcelona are all the same distance away from our European warehouse. Not to mention our convenient location: Highway M3 and M35 are in the close vicinity. Two international airports also serve us: Debrecen and Budapest International airport.

Long term plans, advertising, motorcycle shows

When we launched Outback Motortek we were considering creating products as a package deal. We wanted a brand that we fully stand behind. Hence we are hiring professionals to build and maintain our websites, document product processing and testing, edit video and photo contents etc.

Spreading the word about Outback Motortek – We are using such well-known platforms for advertising as Stromtrooper.com, HorizonsUnlimited.com just to name a few. Also, we want to promote our products by handing them over to online magazines and forums for review. It requires commitment and forward thinking.

North American Motorcycle Super Show - Outback Motortek as a brand has just been recently launched but we are already working on exposing our brand to the public. As one of the results our products will be displayed at North America’s largest motorcycle show(booth #2226)* on Jan. 3-5, 2015
*Quoted by http://www.motorcyclesupershow.ca/admissions.html

Continuous product testing, volunteer product testing opportunities
We do it all before releasing our final products. Prototype testing is very important to us. It starts at designing and will not stop until installing and exposing the products to what they’re designed for. Some of the testing is done in-house or sometimes it is outsourced for unbiased opinions.
Thus we’ve also been partners with riders who are in touch with us on the daily basis. These volunteer riders are more than happy to provide us vital information about certain criteria and feedback regarding our products.

Facility, machinery, experience and tradition

This is where we believe we are ahead of most of our competitors. Outback Motortek solely relies on its manufacturing partner, G&T Inc. It’s more than just a partnership, it’s a family matter.
G&T Metal Fabricating Inc. was established more than 30 years ago and is now boasting with internationally recognized customers from within the medical and indoor design industry. As of 2014, Outback Motortek was created by the owner of G&T Inc.’s son and became one of the companies’ main customers.
G&T Inc. and Outback Motortek are currently operating with over 35 full-time employees and has just extended their manufacturing facility to approximately 30.000 sq ft/2500 m2. Needless to say that most of our machinery is modern and up-to-date and although some are older but reliable. Nevertheless we like to put our skilled employees before machines. Our certified and experienced welders, CAD/CAM and mechanical engineers are all devoted to their careers, therefore their goal is to satisfy their employees and indirectly our customers.

Investing in materials

As a medium size company G&T Inc. and Outback Motortek are manufacturing products with higher than average volume. Therefore, when we order materials, we order big. Want to know the numbers based strictly on facts? Here you go: *“Outback Motortek and its partner turn 80tons of mild steel, 35tons of stainless steel and 15tons of aluminum into products for the global market annually. Our welders play hard, too: over 1000km of accumulated welding wire melted annually is a number to boast about.”

“Conclusion: the more we order the more we can bargain. Better material price per product results in more competitive price tags. Everyone likes red flag deals.”
*Quote from the Outback Motortek (https://outbackmotortek.com/about.php)

Innovation

Innovations are what every company is striving for. It’s something that puts the innovators on top of the list. After so many decades what new and innovative does Outback Motortek have to offer the dual-sport motorcycle market?
We are proud to present the only known dual sport motorcycle skid plate with embossed gliders. It features extra strength where your skid plate needs it the most: the bottom. Also, our present 4mm thick aluminum Suzuki Vstrom skid plate’s thickness or cross-section increases during the manufacturing process to about 9mm around the embossed gliders! All that without adding extra weight to the item. Read more about Outback Motortek skid plate features here: https://outbackmotortek.com/news_details.php?news_id=10

Quality and Quality Inspection

The majority of manufacturers love using words to describe their products such as “highest quality”, “best in the market”, “top notch” and the list goes on. We deliberately avoid using such adjectives. We believe it’s our customers how should describe and rate our products.

Quality inspection: Again, thanks to our international business partners’ high standards, we’ve set the bar high, too. Outback Motortek products go through a 12-step internationally recognized quality inspection process. As such, it includes but not limited to checking:
• Flatness and perpendicularity of the product
• Whether the welding seams are well-closed and have no holes
• Whether the inner/outer edges of sheets, tubes are burr-free
• Whether the sandblasted product are cleaned well
• The painting around connection points of the parts and other difficult spots (corners, bends)
• Product fitting

Bike ended up in a ditch and landed on a rock that could have easily smashed the radiator, heck even the engine...One reason why dual sport bikes gotta have crash bars installed.

And just when you thought you've seen everything..

We are introducing Outback Motortek's latest innovative skid plate that will put us on the map of dual sport motorcycle market.

During the design process our goal was not only to create something different but to create something that can offer riders something more: much better protection. The idea was to reinforce the bottom of our Langar and Barskoon skid plates by increasing the thickness but without adding extra weight to it. You never thought it was possible, did you?

During the manufacturing process we use a 150 tonne hydraulic press machine to emboss the "rib cages" in the bottom of our skid plates. This way the gliders "pop out" of the surface and the thickness or the cross-section of the material around the "rib cages" increases from 4mm to about 9mm! Impressive, isn't it?

What else is the purpose of the "rib cages" besides providing extra strenght? By embossing the gliders we create the smallest surface possible, thus your bike will literally glide over hard objects with the least resistance.

360° view of the innovative skid plate features below:

Outback Motortek - Behind the scene

Behind the scene

Outback Motortek lets you take a peek at how we prepare our products before shipping them out to our distributors, retailers and individuals who purchase via www.outbackmotortek.com.

Below you can see some of the steps that Outback Motortek steel and stainless steel crash bars go through before being put in the shipping boxes:

Tubes are cut to specific length using metal band saw. These saws can be partially or fully automated (via PLC or CNC) for high-volume cutting. These machines provide a stream of cutting-fluid recirculated from a sump. This coolant washes away chips and keeps the blade cool and lubricated.
IMG_6699_1_2 by lorrygombosh, on Flickr

Sometimes there is unwanted piece of material and is removed with a deburring machine in a process called 'deburring'. Burrs are most commonly created after machining operations, such as grinding, drilling or turning. It could be present in the form of a fine wire on the edge of a freshly sharpened tool or as a raised portion of a surface.
IMG_6708_1 by lorrygombosh, on Flickr

Rotary draw bending (RDB) is a precise technology, since it bends using tooling or "die sets" which have a constant center line radius. Rotary draw benders can be programmable to store multiple bend jobs with varying degrees of bending. This is the last step before the pieces are welded with absolute accuracy.
IMG_6739_1 by lorrygombosh, on Flickr

TIG welding is an arc welding process that uses a non-consumable tungsten electrode to produce the weld. The weld area is protected from atmospheric contamination by an inert shielding gas ( argon or helium), and a filler metal is normally used. A constant-current welding power supply produces energy which is conducted across the arc through a column of highly ionized gas and metal vapors known as a plasma.

Quality inspection: Outback Motortek products go through a 12-step internationally recognized quality inspection process.
