Don't Care about Ducati Ownership/Dealerships

Hi ADVer's

I'd like to introduce myself, name's Tom from southern Ontario.
Long term Ducati owner.

My take on it is that I don't care about Ducati's ownership right now,
it's not that I don't like modern Ducatis, I love the four valve technology.
But some of the electronic technology doesn't appeal to me, how ya gonna
work on that, plus lets face it you gotta have some bucks for that, so that leaves me out.
I'm into the two-valve, air cooled twin, and it's predecesor the bevel twin.

Modern -day Ducati dealerships, to the best of my knowledge, do not supply parts for older bikes,
in fact it's really the last place I'd look for parts for the Ducatis I own.
The reality is that more and more globalization of brand names is commonplace, and the lines have
been intentionally blurred by bigbiz and biggov alike.

So if some entity buys Ducati, it won't affect me much, anymore than any other poor prick that's a victim
of the squeeze put on the little guy.

Tom

because i work in the automotive repair industry.

i wont count porsche/lambo/bugatti because those are specialist cars. but damn, after being in the repair industry for a couple of years, vw/audi are cars i would lease, not buy. i see them all the time with the stupidest of problems and they are a pain in the ass to work on.

nothing will change though, my initial comment was more of the automotive repair industry insider sort of joke/comment. im around cars all day long and i hate trying to fix vw's. takes way too much of my time and my bay space, and parts are never quickly available.

You've got to love the morons that think that just because a company is for sale (or has a certain amounts of debt) it is "broke." Invenstindustrial is a medium term VC and Ducati has never been worth more or been more profitable... They are posed to realize a monster return on their 7 year investment, I think they are very smart to get out now. Audi will have a longer term interest in the Panigale guys - it's going to be a perfect combination.

After having VWs in the family since before I ws born, I finally swore off of them last year and sold both of mine. Final straw was VW using a plastic impellor in the waterpump. They last about 65k miles before letting go. Ask me how I, and every other VW owner, knows.

For christsake take breath. And/or stop posting when you're drunk.

Oh, and BMWs are no better or worse than any other overpriced German car out there. FWIW I've got seven Ducatis right now. Two are projects (1966 single cylinder projects) and the other five function just fine, thanks. Not everyone should own a Ducati. If you can't keep them running maybe you should buy a Honda...
