Long time lurker. Thanks for taking us along on your trip. I'm guessing that you'd rather be riding or interacting with all the interesting people you're meeting on this trip than uploading all of this for us to enjoy. But, enjoy it we do!

As an aside, I suspect that in reading this thread, I've probably learned about most of things that might go wrong with my 690, and how to fix them! Time to get my smile fix for the day and go ride!

I think it's worth looking into.
Well... I'm running into some snags with shipping the moto right now. Trying to get that sorted. Looks like air might be out so I'll probably be doing Ro-Ro. Which means I'd have a couple weeks till the moto gets to Thailand. So the I'm weighing my options of going to Philippines or something before Thailand. Or I go to Thailand and spend my birthday on a beach on an island somewhere.

I'm having fun. I am not sure Japan is adventure travel per say. But yeah.. its a cultural adventure. Remind me to post a reflection on Japan when I leave. I have been here for almost 2 months now.

Yup, I can see how the Ro Ro could throw a damper on your plans, might be good to find some nice company and hunker down for your b-day

We'll stay tuned

on the other hand, a small vacation without a bike is always nice when you're on the road for so long... and by the time you really start to miss the bike, it will arrive!

you'll definitely in love with Philippines, people and the places... beers are flowing, bragged as best beers in the world and relatively cheap. just uncertain how the beaureaucracy works there of bringing in with your own bike.

There might be a few Belgians, Germans, and even Americans that would find that amusing. But I'm off to investigate right now...

I thought Boston and NYC were bad...until I went to China. Impossible to describe.

Been reading the report since day 1. All I can say is good on you mate. You have clearly inspired a number of people here, me being one of them. I am busy planning a trip around Australia(home), with an eye to go RTW as you have done. I bought the steed last week, now the prep and build begins.

Thanks for sharing your story mate, and if you ever get to Brisbane, drop me a line and you'll have a place to stay.

Here's my new ride...
