You'll have an absolutely fantastic time there - so much to see, even outside of Prague. I can put you in touch with some friends there if you want.
Just curious ( and no doubt I'm not the only one), if you don't mind sharing, how much did you budget for this RTW adventure? |

I was working for 5 years saving to buy a house. I decided it was not the right thing to do because I have no idea where I want to live. That being said, I am budgeted for $100 a day. So far I am close but a bit over. Coming up the coast in California and Oregon I stayed in hotels quite a bit when it was raining. Fuel has been about $20 to $30 a day. If you sit down for a meal plan on dropping a $20 bill. $25 in Canada. On the cheap I should be able to shave this down to $50 a day. Who knows what the price of fuel will do though. Wait... I do. It will go up.

That Wraps up Leg 1
The last couple days I spend with a friend from Montana who took a contract job up here in AK building a windfarm. His team invited me to go on a tour of the Kenai Fjords national park. It was a huge gaper-fest but I will admit, I am just as much as a tourist when I see killer whales jumping out the water.
Clayton has an XR he is trying to make into a KTM. ![]() The lady captain on the boat had an extremely sexy voice. We were afraid to ask for her number to come have a drink with us because we thought it would start with 1-900... This Glacier is a mile across. It looks about the size of an ice cube though.. Dinner on Fox Island was included. All you could eat Salmon and Prime Rib. ![]() Killer whale skull. The head looks nothing like this skull. There is a huge dome that they use to communicate with sound. After the boat ride, we found the Yukon bar. Every Sunday night "Hobo Jim" plays there. He is a local talent and well worth it to try and see. The bar had no cover and it got pretty wild. Oh, and there were a whole lot of 20-something marine biologist girls who just got to AK for the summer. ![]() Clayton and I about to leave Seward. From Seward we rode back north. Clayton continued back to Anchorage to go back to work. I went down to homer to see what I could see. I stopped in at the Salty Dog for a drink and had some King Crab before camping on the spit. This is what $45 worth of King crab looks like. One full pound. (that leg is like 2 feet long) More Eagles then Seagulls I think.. Interesting boat. It looked like someone lived in there... I was not quite sure. On Tuesday the 30th I rode back into Anchorage. It was cold and rainy the whole way. I stopped at a fly shop and tuned up my arsenal for the ride back through Canada. I plan on eating fish way more often now that it is getting into the season. AMMO!!!! I am officially done with Leg one of the trip. When I leave Anchorage today I will be heading toward Minnesota Via Valdez, Chicken, Dawson City, Laird, Banff, Missoula, Bighole, Bozeman, Cooke City... etc. 9 weeks. 8534 miles. 2 oil changes. 1 set of tires. 8 days snowboarding. A couple fishies. California. Oregon. Washington. BC. Yukon. AK. Thanks for everyone who has helped me along the way. The feedback from everyone has been pretty amazing and at times overwhelming (in a good way). Please don't hesitate to write. I love meeting new people. After all, this is why we travel right? I have been archiving my GPX trails during the ride. Here is a screen shot of GoogleEarth with all my GPX files on it. (the light blue lines)

Rally Raid stuff is holding up well. I am rethinking my luggage though. Not sure I am sold on the hard cases. Today I am shipping most of my street cloths back to MN. To much stuff.

Damn... found this RR a little bit late! Had I noticed this one earlier, I could have offered you a place to crash on your way through Prince George. Great RR and pics, keep up the good work! And if you happen to come back this way on your way south, drop me a PM - we've always got room for ADV'ers coming through town.
Cheers!
