Nxr750

Just caught up (again). Can't believe the NXR750 was at 128kg and then that was "developed" into the Africa Twin. I had one, it weighed over 220kg. Why did they have to put an extra 100kg on it??

Anyways, great report as always. Certainly showed a side of Japan I didn't expect. Keep the surprises coming.

Have fun skiing in Hokkaido. I'm a little envious. I hope you get some good snow.

Thanks for following. Nothing wrong with re-thinking your life. I seem to do that on a weekly basis

Noah, you've not only taken me much further east than I've been, what's so enjoyable for me is the pace of your journey.

Good luck and keep it coming!!!

Oh, and get some fertilizer on that beard ... in Thailand perhaps
I will never forget camping by myself in Mongolia. Being alone can be a beautiful thing.

Yeah. Honda decided to shove a grown American Man in that bike somewhere.

Octoober 28-Dec 1. Hostel in Asakusa, Tokyo

After the MotoGP, I went into Tokyo to a hostel I knew of in Asakusa. I wanted to be in Tokyo on Halloween because I figured if any place was going to have some parties, Tokyo would be it. I met up with my friend Gen in Akihabara. He brought a few goodies back from KTMtwins.com for me including a Sigutech clutch slave cylinder. He tried to help me get a cell phone but as we learned, it's nearly impossible for a foreigner to get a sim card or prepay cell in Japan. I was on the lookout for a volt meter for my bike and I was hoping Akihabara would have something. I found many cool nerd toys but no digital volt meter that would work on the bike. I saw one but they wanted $50 and it wasn't waterproof. Later I found one at a motorcycle shop for $25 that was waterproof and quite compact. A few days later I helped out Gen install a few parts on his way-to-clean 690. There was a monthly couchsurfing.org party that just happened to fall on Halloween and that's where I went. Dressed as a panda of course. I have never been waved at on the subway by so many cute Asian woman as I did dressed as a panda. One would nudge the girl next to her and the would both look at me and giggle, smile and wave. The party was a lot of fun and I met quite a few foreigners and locals who could speak English. The most memorable was a girl from Vietnam and another girl from Missouri. I would meet up with both of them at later times. I stayed a little to long at the party and even though I made 1st train that circles the city, the subway back to Asakusa had stopped running for the night. And it only Midnight. So armed with a subway map I headed what I thought was east. Luckily, I spotted a road sign that had me going north instead. So I went a block back to the station and turned left. Soon I saw the next metro station so I knew I was heading the right way. After the 2nd metro station, at a stoplight I was picked up by some Americans in a taxi who had no idea where their hostel was in Asakusa was. So I helped them find the hostel and went to bed. The next Gen gave me an iphone to use. With out that, I would not have been able to set up the shipping of my moto out of the country.

Mini's are huge here. Meaning there are a lot of them. Some day I'll build one.

Funny subway sign. Korea has something similar but its a video of a drunk dude who falls down an escalator then a chick on a cellphone who does the same.

Akihabara. Motherboards.

3D printer.

Recording voltage and amp meters. I snapped this pic so I have the numbers.. for later research.

Digital?

Oscilloscope anyone? Let your inner-nerd out.

Ever want to drive a Xena warrior princess looking robot?

8 or 9 stores of adult stuff. And some really creepy stuff that doesn't look like adults at all.

I don't think this would go over at a BK in the US.

What every Asian girl wants

I'd be going for one of those Frog Eye Sprites myself.

Awesome Blog Noah

I've been following your travels since Ireland and gotta say I'm amazed at your energy and courage. I would've never have thought to do what your doing but then at your age I was half way through my military career so extended travel wouldnt have been possible. I'll continue to check in to live vicariously through your travels. If your ever around Colorado look me up, I ride an ATK 605 but will probably build up a KLR for a trip back to Alaska.

Best wishes my friend

Wildman

P.S Any chance of you hooking up with the "Flying Dutchman" Lalo while in Thailand? His blog is RTW in 800 days. You two would have a lot to talk about!

I kid you not, went to a "gentlemens club" in Hamamatsu where all the doods that worked there wore suit like your panda suit... There was Pokemon, LILO and stitch and others I didn't know. The girls kept reminding me I was not allowed to do anything but touch their chests but I kept reminding them I was gaijin and American and back home we slaps our dancers on the butt. Hd a great time even if a bit strange...
