Hey Noah,
Just got caught up on the completion of the first leg. Really happy to see you still living the dream. Even more happy to see that you're ok after the crashes. Looking forward to seeing the start of the next leg. (And feel free to keep throwing out those 'long term travel on the 690' tips for those of us with the same!). All the best, Cord |

Update
Thanks for all the kind words!
I have purchased a flight for the 8th of August from Toronto to Dublin. My motorcycle will be on the same flight thanks to Motorcycle Express. I have been getting my paperwork together and everything is coming into place. My health insurance for then next 12 months in foreign countries cost me as much as 3 months in the US on cobra. The funny thing is, the motorcycle insurance for the next 12 months is more then the health insurance. ![]() The bike is still apart. I am waiting on a few more things: front springs 465mm .56 instead of the 465mm .58 that i was running. I want to try to soften the washboard some. Klim gear is still getting repaired and I ordered a new Arai xd4. I also got a new flyrod in the mail. Its an Orvis 7 piece 5 weight "frequent flyer". It breaks down to 16 inches! perfect for travel! I will post pictures and a report of the mods, new luggage, wear and tear in a few days when I have the moto back together.

![]() Before the fix ![]() After the fix Now on to the bike: Installed a new Regulator/Rectifier. New dash.. with Voltage, Temp, hour/tach, 12v outlet (switched with the toggle so I can charge stuff without the bike running) New fork bushings, seals, and long fork gators. Fuel filter relocated outside of the tank. Spare sprockets sit on top the RR bash guard. Some modification required. New softer front springs. I had .58s and we decided to step down to .56s. (stock is .52) New luggage. The can up front is my spare parts. Spare fuel pump, fuel injector, fuel filter, fork seals, spark plug, ect. So I finally got my replacement tank in the mail. It only took 24 days to make it from Rally Raid to Tofte Minnesota. I leave Grand Marais tomorrow morning early. I have 5 days to get to Toronto. I drop the bike off on the 6th and fly on the 8th.

Good to see you back on the road...
I like the spare sprocket mount... Any chance the bolts could negatively impact the bottom of the engine case?

The bolts for the rear sprocket are set wider then the case. The bolts for the small sprocket are in a "valley" in the bottom of the case. I suppose there is always a chance but i think i'm good... I'll check again when I land on a huge rock.

Lookin good Noah! I've been following you're progress and finallllllly signed up to get my word in. I'm from Victoria, but now living in Muenster, Germany.. I think you are heading my way soon? Muenster is North West Deutschland, strait across the border from Amsterdam basically. Anywho, if you find yourself in the area, there is a spare room with a couch which you are welcome to. I can also point you in the direction of some curvy roads :)
all the best, Stu |
