I took a couple hour nap and then walked back to the motorcycle and I fount the lock. I have all my bags and gear but the KTM is gone. I did a police report but I don't expect much unless they have footage of it. Broad daylight on a busy street. I'll try to do some posts around the Internet but i'm not sure what else to do.

This part of the trip is off to a good start.
That is the worst news, what a way to mess up a mans plans, now it's a wait and see game... I have a spare bike sitting here, but you are so far away...

Noah...

Go into all the pubs in the local area and spread the word that there you were,a Yank coming to visit Ireland on your moto...you're here 5 mins and your moto is stolen...don't be shy to go into any seedy pubs....

Locals hate that kind of stuff happening...especially if you're Yank....there'll be a chance you'll get it back....could be some local youths just taking and driving away as it were.....

Worth a try....more fuckwits in proportion like that over there is why I left the island.....

Sorry for your trouble....

Again.....insure for theft if and when you can and an approved U lock/chain system would be a better bet that a disc lock(but a hassle to carry).....but you know all of that now.....

If they want it bad enough they'll arrive with four men and scaffold poles through each wheel rim and they'll lift it into a van...that's why easier to have it locked to something solid...

For example here the insurance companies will only insure for theft when you send off proof of purchase of SRA approved locks etc....without that and your moto is stolen they'll not cover it.

I walked around a sketchball neighborhood that is close by but did not see anything. A local russian guy said his bike was stolen once and has had 2 or 3 other attempts and he is local. The local police told me not to go talking to people about it because they might hide/move it more if they know someone is looking for it. I'll look more tomorrow. I might have to change the name of this thread to RTW with noah on a honda 90 (or whatever I can get ahold of)

Thanks for all the support. This has been tough to deal with.

Noah - so sorry to hear about this man!

FWIW I'd probably lean towards the advice here than the local police... it's not that their stupid it's just their agenda is different. I'm betting their thinking a.) it doesn't make them look good and/or b.) you might be get hurt looking for it.
As that is a possibility we should post something up in the regional forum to have some help with ya on the search. Of course I wouldn't burn any bridges with the police as you never know where the help will come from.

Freakin A That's really sad some bastard had to steal your bike Goodluck for a speedy return or sorting out another ride for your trip.

At least your person is doing okay, so I guess it could be a little worse but damn who would have thought.

Hoping for the best.

John
