Fish is a good guy! that bike will have some stories to tell when you are done with it.

Ironically I woke up to two guys trying to steal my KTM 690 Enduro last night. I heard an angle grinder noise at 1am and I look out my window and they are cutting my chain which is hooked to my Defender's bumper. I yelled at them and ran outside. They were already gone and the bike was laying on its side. This is the second time in 3 years. They got my KTM 640 Adventure, but looks like a won this round.

Long time lurker on this forum. I've followed your whole journey up until now and it's so awesome. I know everyone has beat it to death, but sucks about your bike, and I hope the dirtasses who stole it get theirs. I'm from MI by the way - not TOO far away from your home state.

Getting excited to get back on the road!
Great news. I really feel for you having had a ride stolen in the past too. Hope the thieves get some really bad karma in the form of a freight train or better. If you are headed through The Netherlands at all, please know that you are welcome to stay in the spare room and make use of tools and secure garage parking.

This is why I am glad I left the UK. What possesses people to steal from a traveller? Very sad and I think you have the right attitude that this will just be one of the memories/stories to tell of your trip. As long as you are insured and they pay out quickly then great, but I know when you embark on such a journey the bike is like a child and seeing something that has kept you in and out of trouble taken from you must hurt.

I do hope the press coverage raises the profile and returns you the bike.

When you finally get to NZ then please let me know, I have somewhere for you to stay (very secure I promise!!) and a guide of the North Island, Although I ride a Tenere 660. :-)

Good luck and look forward to you continuing your journey.

I'm home in Ireland on holidays. Just went back to this thread and found out you're here and your bike was stolen. What a shitty thing to happen. I actually passed through Dublin the day that happened, I was taking a trip round Ireland on my bike. I am really sickened to see your trip being messed up like this in a country that was once renowned for its welcome to foreigners.
