As far as I understand... no.. there are "temporary import papers" that you have to fill out when you enter Kazak, Ukraine and/or Russia

Orange is where it is needed. Yellow is recommended.

rtwpaul gave a link to this site: http://www.caa.ca/travel-documents/c...st-calculator/ from his RR. Prices can be very high, or at least the money guarantee is.

Something worth thinking about is what happened to a rider doing an rtw on honda PCX - his connecting rod broke and lunched his engine in India, Honda wanted to send hime a new engine under warranty but the Indian authorities refused to let the engine through customs - result was scooter handed over to Indian customs Rider continues on a push bike

Thumb Thanks!

Noah,

I had a dormant account here but had been doing some lurking & researching 690's when I came across your RR. I glanced at it and thought, like I usually do, pretty cool...then I fractured a vertebrae taking my son sledding 9 days ago [goodbye Alaska spring skiing!]. So now a man with nothing to do and an iPad to play with. I just finished reading it, activated my account so I could subscribe to the rest as you continue your journey beyond Georgia. THANKS for your part in helping a brother on his way to healing and looking forward to being back on the snow & a new bike.
Have fun & keep the knobby side down.

Thanks for the kind words. I hope you get better soon! You will be back to shredding in no time :)

You don't need a Carnet for Venezuela, Colombia, Ecuador or Peru, so maybe the info for the other part of the globe is not totally correct?

I suggest you look into that with the Carnet Issuing Authority for your country, so you don't have any unpleasant surprises while on the road...

Buen viaje!

You don't actually need one for NZ either, you can do a temp import instead & put down a 15% deposit. However you will need one for Oz so if you are visiting NZ around the same time it would be the easiest way to go.

Cheers
Clint

Yeah, I need one for Japan too. I have been doing a lot of research on the Carnet and this map seems to be pretty accurate for Asia. It was just the easiest way to represent what I wanted to say.

Laugh 1 Year!

One year ago today I started traveling! Hard to believe how the time flies when you are having fun. 52,000 km, 25 countries, countless new friends and so many memories. Thanks to everyone who is following along, given me support, and all my new friends. Cheers!

This pic was taken a few weeks ago.. but I thought it was to good not to share.

My mom must be proud.

I'm enjoying following this. Your pictures are simply amazing. Being a former road-racer, I love the views of the awesome twisties!
I am definitely adding this to my bucket list. We're moving to Vietnam for work and I'm thinking about "riding home" when we're done with our commitment (in 3 years). The question will be which direction to take. I'm thinking West since it's further (we would most likely be going to the West coast since we live in Hawaii).

Subscribed.

Happy Anniversary ...

...what a year man?! totally awesome, thx for taking us all along. You must be great inspiration for many young men as its much easier before you get entangled with family/responsibilities etc... Keep on riding/reporting and play along w/locals as it is the best part of a trip like that Love your attitude, character and style... that's what makes this story so appealing to others. Great pictures also - keep up a good work!

Also, please post a picture of you from a year ago (at the start of the trip) so we can compare them both and see what a year of adventures do to the man ...I'm proud of you "son"! Happy RTW-ing!

cheers,
greg
