Whew! Got confused for a minute and thought you were still in MS and couldn't imagine what that kind of machine would be used for down here. Then I remembered Alabama and thought "of course". Nice pictures of down home scenery. I sometimes look around at what we take for granted and think folks not from here might be interested. Good job and thanks.

Got out for another Day Trippin' in MS, today.

Headed out with DavidQ on his KTM990A and Knightwork aka "Mouthy Dave" on his GSA, and me on my Wee. Head north up Hwy 25...

DQ on the ADVenture:

And KW on Frau Beemer Motorad (Yes, he is playing air drums!)

We pull over over at Hwy 16 and wait in the shade for Mr. New Bike to join us. Anti-Cyclone soon arrived on his new S-10, in the faster black color!

I was trying to take it easy on the S10 since it didn't have belly protection yet, but ran into this:

But Anti is a trooper and we find a way to navigate around:

The bypass:

No Problem!!

Then KW on his overweight German mistress headed around...

But they made it too

And of course the KTM was lapping us as we went through once...

Soon we are hauling again...

Smalltown, MS... This one known as "West" I think?

Passed through farmville

My camera is getting slow and causing me to miss on some of my moving shots

Big house in the middle of nowhere?

Soon we were in KUDZU country! This stuff is taking over!

It was in the upper 90's by now...

DQ peeled off and headed back home and the three of us trucked on through the 'Zu. Hunting camps with satellite dishes and no way to control the Kudzu!

We finally start getting hungry and hit the highway to Winona, MS where we soak up some AC at the Waffle House

After lunch we go to fuel up and Anti is considering peeling off since we are at the Northern end of the loop and closest to his home, but when KW and I decide to hit the MS Hill Country Trail for part of our way home, he decides to tag along a little further...

I think they got lots of dust behind me... My windshield stayed pretty clean... Benefit of leading!

Frau Beemer decided to aggravate KW bad knee in the deep sand patches, so we stopped for a stretch break...

This is the rough part of the HCT. The road seems to be abandoned and I've only seen it used during deer season, so the rest of the year, the Kudzu, rain, weeds, etc have control of it. I am afraid we will totally lose it in the next year or two from watching the decline over the past two years that I have ridden the HCT.

Yes, this is a county road on the HCT.

I have never seen this mud hole totally dry!

And the Tenere makes it with ease...

More "county road"

Roadside farms

More old houses that I missed by shooting while moving with my slower camera..

This is a really cool old house / cabin but the tree and greenery has pretty much hidden it

half the post office

The Hill portion of the trail... Cutovers

Gotta TRAVEL THE GRAVEL

Anyone looking for a place to rent?

This sign usually means the ride is about to get fun!

Yep!

Everyone through the checkpoint

There is a short section of the HCT that is the only place in MS that I have seen large rocks in the ground. There are a few houses that use them in their yards and some just on the side of the road. Very out of place for Mississippi!

It was getting hot, my camelback was low, so KW and I soon hit the Natchez Trace and headed South! It was a good ride, just a little WARM!!

Thanks for following me around guys!

Before it became clear that you were on the HCT, I saw your pic of West, MS, and said "I know that place!" My grandson and I did the HCT over Memorial Day and stopped in West. I thought I'd just get some insurance gas, but the only place in town was out. Had plenty of liquor, though. Great post. Looks like it was very hot - comes with the territory down here.

Yea, HCT will test you with heat and dust (and Kudzu)! There are several little places like West, Ethel, etc. where you may or may not find a store...
it takes a full day to do it all in daylight, but summer is too hot. Winter daylight is short. Fall you have hunters everywhere. Spring means rain and mud. Sometimes you just gotta go!
