ADVRider Handle change anyone?

I'm suggesting "QuickDraw!"

(got the photos a little too big, but can't seem to re-upload them and make them smaller.)

Thanks all for posting up your stories, GREAT photos and Clips.

Although the date isn't firm yet I can tell you that if it is on the 19th thru the 21st next year I won't be there except in spirit. I do a Ham Radio Convention in April every year with my Brother. Not to be missed if you're a serious DXer (an aspect of the hobby).

We'll have to wait for the offishul date disclosure from the HDIC.

As part of the total tally:
3 full kegs of beer
4 additional cases (plus whatever you FF brought)
over 2 lbs of coffee (thanks to Santa Claus for bringing me the 25 cup pot, although it takes FOREVER to perk)
1 1/2 cases of H2O (whoda thunk with all the water coming down from the sky)

If I owe you a shirt, send me your address and I'll get them off to you sometime in the next couple of weeks.

I took a chance on the Silipints (beer goggles) and ordered an extra 26. Turns out I had ONE left when it was all over. Thanks Guys!

It would seem as though we missed the weather by a week, either way. It was in the 80s in Kernville last weekend according to the weather guys.

Thanks again,
Gerg

PS The Harley sold on Tuesday so I'm now Harleyless. Just the '12 GS, '10 TW200, '76 100/7 (in boxes) left!

Great write-up, Backoutonthehighway. And I thought I had a ton of stuff piled onto my Wee Strom. Damn, that Connie was FULLY loaded. We should definitely get together for a ride sometime soon. Like you, I'm starting to hunt for a proper dualsport bike.

So after a packed week,

BLAH, BLAH, BLA-DE-BLAH, BLAH... (snip)

Also, as a result of this weekend, the Vulcan is up for sale and I'm deep into my research on which dual sport will replace her. Recommendations and warnings are welcome.
If you are ever in need of anything on the way through the East Bay, give me a call. I have plenty of couchsurfing room and garage space. Until next time, FYYFFs!

FUCK THE MAYANS!!

Good write up and pics, and damn glad to meet you! Thanks for taking over as HDIC for next year!

As for a proper dual sport, I love my 1150GSA, and would get another one in a second, but it is a bit heavy for any technical trailwork, but makes a great all-around bike, carves corners like a sport bike, and will handle medium offroad trails with no problems, and, after 4-600 miles in a day's riding, won't leave you all buzzy feeling and worn out like a 650 'something-or-other'...

I haven't tried an 800GS, so can't tell you about that one.

See you next year!

Thanks Bonerov - sooner than you think. I'll see you at Mayday Melee IV: http://www.advrider.com/forums/showthread.php?t=772966

Thanks! Damn glad to make your acquaintance as well and super happy that you'll be back next year with some of that most righteous stout!

I'm guessing that the 1150 will be very close to my Connie for touring (smooth, comfortable, heavy payload, heavy, sporty, etc...). Thinking I might want something smaller to start my off-road experience. Maybe even a "haul it there and ride" size for starters, but I'm still researching.

Can't remember if you are in Nor Cal or So Cal. Look me up when you are up this way and we'll go vaporize some dinosaur bones and taste test some local breweries.

Correct on the comparo, but you can get knobs for the GS and its got good ground clearance if you go Adventure height (I had longer Ohlins made, and put on longer kick stands, and added the Adv. bashplate). Go with the GS Adventure, or better, an HP. Heck, you could almost trailer a 125 behind the GS...

I'm in sacto, and planning an oyster run to Tomales bay on the 4th. I plan to be there about 0900-0930. Hoping to hook up with jstory in winters on the way.

Riding thru Napa and Sonoma, Pet-a-lama and west to Tomales bay oyster company. Gonna eat about 30 or so there (probably more like 50) then ride home. PM me your Cel # and we'll hook up if you can make it, and I'll buy you a beer and a coupla (dozen) oysters...
