Our plan is to get at least up to Denali NF around the middle of June. I have not looked into how long I think it will take us to get there. But we are not doing big miles, maybe 200 per day average. We are snails out there looking to hang out and see things along the way.
![]() Tomorrow, we head for Roswell, NM. Its only 2.5 hours from us (Brownfield, TX.) We are going to check out the UFO museum, I have always wanted to go there for some reason. ![]() Then we are heading down to Carlsbad, NM to look for a place to camp. I have not been able to find camping info for the NF there, but I assume there will be somewhere to camp in the area. Yesterday and today were spent battling the fierce winds of Western OK and Western TX. I have never ridden in winds this bad, and I have ridden in a Tropical Storm, and many thunderstorms with high winds. It was hot today, and hotter yesterday. We are pretty tired, and going to bed so we can try and beat the heat in the am.

We have a bad connection, so I've been posting via Tue cell. We have lots to share, but it will have to wait for now. On the up swing, we went to Carlsbad Caverns today.:)
At the laundry mat now. I was washing clothes in the sink at hotels or at the campground. Just too much piled up... KimPossible screwed with this post 05-08-2012 at 06:12 AM |

I didn't see if you posted your full route, but if you guys are heading into the SF Bay Area you are welcome to stop by our place. Some of the best parts of traveling by motorcycle are the people you meet - so we are open to guests ourselves. Have a great trip!

If ya get to ABQ go up the Mntn and down the back side it comes out by Santa Fe. Nice little ride. And the off road park is behind the ABQ airport.

Hello, been enjoying your posts. I did a solo ride out that way from Ft Myers, Fl last November. Don't know your plans but Route 60 west is interesting. It will take you to Pie Town on the Continental Divide. They have a Windmill Museum there?! I didn't stop as it was 40 degrees and raining and was trying to get out from under the weather chasing me.
Rt 60 into Globe Arizona and on to Pheonix is a great road too. Ride safe. |

Glad you guys are doing well. It's a pix driven site for me so the more the better
Some of us Sand Fleas took it on the road last week. LXIV Dragon Master and I went up to the Beaver run in Murphy for the weekend. Hill climbs and tight trails are so much more fun to me than sand and whoops. If I was not at the beach I would be up in the Mt's put perhaps CO not NC ha. Keep bringing it strong and thanks for the updates. FU

On 5/4 we headed out from the Crystal Meth Palace where we stayed the night in Brownfield, TX. I had picked up an oil filter the day before and headed for an auto parts store. A little dumpster diving netted an empty oil bottle I could use as a funnel, but it was not needed.
![]() $3 got me an oil drain pan, so I went to work. ![]() We had put 3000 miles on the bike, so it was time for a change. Success. ![]() And we were on the road again, for another boring and hot day in W. TX. ![]() The most interesting things to look at. ![]() But things were about to change for the better. ![]() I set my sights on Roswell, NM, I have always wanted to go there for some reason. So we hit the UFO Museum, and research facility. ![]() ![]() Then we headed for Carlsbad, and found camping at Brantley Lake St. Park just North of town. Sunset from our campsite. ![]() The drunk guy on the goped was Kevin, he also had a dog on a leash pulling him and it was quite comical. We also met Marty, and hung out with him, swapping lies and drinking beer until our women both wanted us to come to bed. ![]() ![]() The morning of 5/6 we headed for the Caverns. Marty gave me a route that would take me around town via Dark Canyon Rd. It was quite scenic, but it had signs everywhere warning you of poison gas. ![]() ![]() I will post up more when I get time, we are going hiking in Cougar Country.
