Macgyver Pics: What you did to get back on the road

Nuke this thread if it exists, but I wanted to see all of your trail fixes and what you did to get the bike moving again. Here are a couple of mine:

Sheared footpeg somewhere in the Wasatch...

The fix: Vise Grips. Rode them this way to a machine shop in Green River, WY for more than 200 miles. I never ride without a Vise Grips.

My buddy's broken rack (my cold welds) on the White Rim.

The fix: If you can't fix it with duct tape or bailing wire, parachute cord is your next best bet. My buddy Seth with the fix on his KLR.

What do you do when you're on your 4th flat of the day and out of tubes and patches?

Cut an old tube, use some RTV and finish with electric tape

Tube held air, not only for the ride home, but for the next 2 weeks while new tubes were being aquired.

Another flat close to Clint's Well, AZ. This one was so big, the gnarled internal bead of the tire kept popping the new tube. Had to hitch hike to town and pick up the bike in a buddy's truck the next day.

No big fixes here, but the road to Alejandro's, Baja Mex rattled 9 fasteners lose (all treated with red Loctite prior). This is the workshop palapa.

I used a straight sided BiK pen body, plastic film containers and some zip ties to repair both turn signals. They'er still that way for about six or more years.

No biggie really but while riding in Mexico a tope busted my top box mount. I used some BMW shipping straps to hold the box on until I could get the mount welded.

Rabbit Valley outside of Grand Junction Colorado,

Punched a hole in the oil filter cover.

No JB Weld, but had some hotel hand soap in my backpack. Remembered my grandfather telling stories about sealing a cracked block on an old tractor with it. Thought well lets see if the old man was pulling my leg. Got another 30 miles back to camp and the tool box.

Got no picture but.......

Got no picture but I replaced a lost drive shaft lock pin spring from one taken from a retractable ball point pen. I think the MacGyver TV show taught more people hot to think through a problem than any "survival school" course in existance.

On Highway 50 the Loneliest Road in America the gear lever came lose, couldn't tighten it but the solution was easy and it lasted for another couple thousand miles till I got it fixed.
