Venue Change?
Here is the deal:
The state is broke and park regulations may limit our 'group' fun. With a limited of vehicles per site, we may be forced to get more than one site. This is a little ridiculous to me. I'm also not interested in paying $35+ parking a night to sleep on the ground. Calaveras Big Trees State Park: Info HERE and HERE Just off Hwy 4 $35 per site per day, $8 per extra vehicle per day, Limit 2 vehicles per site, limit 10 ppl per site. They have group parking available that they wanted us to park excess (2) motorcyles last year, but did not enforce it. Includes: flush toilets, coin operated hot showers 3 Miles North of Arnold, CA All paved roads Fraser Flat: Info HERE and HERE $18 per site, $5 per extra vehicle (all per day) Potable water, Vault Toilet Right next to the Stanislaus River 10 miles from Long Barn, CA. 3 miles of dirt road to get to camp ITSAGS took these today: ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Sand Bard Flat Info Here $7 per site, NO extra vehicle fee Potable water, Vault Toilet Right next to a small lake on the Stanislaus River (fishing anyone)![]() 3 miles from Long Barn, CA. Road is steep, narrow and is not paved past Fraser Flat Campground ANYONE UP for a change? My vote for Sand Bar Flat

If you are really worried, I can ride your GS down for you. YOu can take the DR.
I'd prefer to not see you bin it and hurt yourself farting around on the GS. Drop the DR and you can just chuckle and pick it back up with one hand

The road to Frazier Flat is paved from 108, the 5 miles to the campground and another mile past, where it turns into Fs 4N01
If you have a map, the turn off is 1 mile before Cold Springs and is called Frazier Flat rd. It is ready for traffic as they were creating tar snakes today to make it safe. Sand Bar Flat and Frazier Flat are only about 11 miles apart. One on the South Fork of the Stanislaus and the other on the Middle fork. To get to Sand Bar Flat you just continue past Frazier Flat for 3 miles on dirt Fs4NO1 and turn N on Fs 4N85 and go another 8 miles. This is doable on a big bike. If you stay on 4N01, it keeps on the ridge line until the N fork of the Stanislaus where it joins up with Italian Bar rd to Columbia (a gold rush historical park). If I trust you, I will tell you where I live. ![]() Frazier Flat has an advantage in that it has gas, a store and a restaurant 6 miles away. There are also facilities at Pinecrest and Strawberry. Your choice to get there dirt or pavement. Does not really matter which one or neither you choose, If you pick one you can visit the other in 30 minutes. Frazier Flat has 36 sites and Sand Bar Flat 13, but not often visited. Thats partly because it is not signed well and being 1,000ft lower can be warm.

I'll wait till Al/Holly Mike/V chime in before making a decision.
I know girls like showers and pretty toilets.

Thats what the rivers are for.
Just another correction on the Sand Bar Flat rte. Garmin ID's the rte as 4N85. The FS correctly calls it 4N88 with 4N85 branching off of it. If there is a marker at the 4N01 intersection it will be 4N88. Anybody going that way please look for my toolbox, it bounced off last year. The toilets are the typical vault type, but will be barely used. Nice brick buildings though. I do not think there are showers at either location.
