there's really nice dampers that do high and low speed. you dont notice an Ohlins at 20 an hour but it sure works at a 100 while hitting something.
Thats the right setting.

Electrically adjustable damper? you want it computer controlled as well? Tell me one bike where you'll find that.

I remember reading sort of a thing before, but I am not sure. On the other hand, I used to have a KTM Powerparts damper on my 690 Enduro, I have never felt that it was there or not. I don't think that KTM will compromise on this sort of a comfort on 1190; I believe that 1190 is a very important bike for them and they can't make mistake about it.

All motorcycles that have Honda Electronic Steering Damper (HESD).
One of them is the CBR600RR series from '07 until now.
If i am not wrong the latest GSXR series have it as standard as well.

2013 Ducati Multistrada 1200 with Sacks suspension and BMW 1000RR HP4 with Sacks suspension. Both have computer controlled suspension.

Cheers

Gosh, don't you all think the 1190 Adventure will be expensive enough without adding a computer controlled damper? Overkill for the targeted market maybe?

Laugh Farkle the begeezus out the thing... coz THAT's the market demographic they targeted.

They've gone and built a 1190cc 120 horsepower plus road/offroad bike with fairing, lounge chair seat, all the farkles that BMW could think of, gave it a testosterone shot and a 21" front wheel (so they could broadly - at a stretch - catagorize it as a dirt bike) and then released it on a marketplace where the existing 990cc offering was regarded by many as bordering on excessive...

... and you're worried about the "overkill" factor...

This guy from MCN says it feels lighter, narrower and more nimble than a 990.....must be a paid schill eh? I mean it's not possible that someone's whose actually rode the bike would know more than those who have seen pictures on the internet right?

yes it's a lot of cash for a KTM, no disrespect intended,
I think it will be a great bike and can't wait to ride one but finding that sort of cash ???
a little dissapointing considering the high cost is the right hand switch cluster is a mag alloy painted black, the new left hand with the computer link buttons is a grey plastic moulding, not really what you would expect,
they really have to get this bike right,

So we're looking at 16-18 grand (US) for this puppy aren't we? The 2013 MSRP is $13,999 for the 990 SMT, so it'd fall in line with that.

That's middle equipped GS territory.

The local shop has the 990 Baja edition listed for $14,899. If the 1190 base price comes in at $15,999, I'd say it's worth it.

For 99% of members on advrider, this bike will be better, for them, than Ducati's Multistrada. I'd rather have this bike than a Multistrada or a Beemer, whatever the cost. But the best thing is; it's 1500 cheaper than a multi.

What's the problem? Is it that its more money than its slower, less equipped predecessor? WHAT DO YOU EXPECT????

Quick thought for you guys.

i work (part own) a bike dealership. I have a Kawasaki Versys 1000 demo available whenever I want. Also a 2013 'Skyhook' Multistrada S Ducati demo. And we will be running an 1190 Adventure base model demo in a few weeks.

But despite all that I have an 1190R (plus a load of goodies) on order that I am paying for out of my own pocket.......................and I intend to USE it
