No doubt-- but doesn't he seem to pick up the throttle pretty late (after the apex) on pavement?

I cant help but laugh, and I am not sure if anyone else has noticed, but even in the KTM 1190 Promo Ads it clearly shows a new 1190 with damage already to the header... looks almost flattened in that section. I check on some other images of new 1190's on the showroom and the pipes are perfectly round... so its not a fancy bit of compression or a bomber on the head... check it out below... I have never had a love bite there on the 990

So had my testride today with the 1190. Booked for an R but when i got there they had no available...

So stepped on the regular one. Damn that thing is low!
Felt like i was riding an ER6 or something.

Thing is fast a fook! Great power delivery in the whole revrange, very smooth and predictable. Awesome set of brakes with a great ABS system. I liked it.
Dash was very clear and easy to read, no clusterfucking.
TC makes it to easy to ride tho, you can whack the thing open without consequense. Very stable and easy to ride, a bit to easy even.

The blinker switch on the other hand.... Where those engineers drunk??

Thing feels waaaay to low when u step off of a 950s. Ergo's while standing sucked ass to.

The only upgrade for me are the brakes and the windprotection.
They clearly went from a full big street oriented MX bike to a roadbike with lot's of bells 'n whistels.

Not worth the 14k+ to me.

Talking 1190 Test Ride Thoughts

I took the 1190 out for a test ride today from KTM Centre in Hemel Hampstead while I was getting some Akros fixed on my 990. Got there late so only had 1/2hr which is not really enough time. I left it on the "sport" setting, so this is a limited view of the machines capabilities.

I was aware that the 990 might seem really weak after the 1190 - and might now feel like the poor relation! But in fact I was really thrilled to get back on my bike (with new thumping pipes).

The 1190 is faaaaast. On sport setting it really felt like a sports bike. But I don't want a sports bike. I like the tall, loping stance of my 990. The 1190 cornered better, braked better and surged harder at higher revs. But it also felt too low, lacked the individual rugged look and feel of the 990 and just didn't float my boat enough to want to change bikes.

The R version will probably feel much closer to the 990 and could well woo me with her charms. I look forward to riding it soon. For now I am relieved that as I return to my trusty steed the 990, our loving relationship remains still intact.

Will the 1190A 19" front tubeless wheel fit a 950A/990A ??

What is the outside width of the rotors and axle diameter etc?

Joe Pichler is using his 990 wheels on his 1190 "R", so there is a good chance they will all switch over.

I think if you read Joe's thread he is NOT transferring his 990 wheels onto his 1190R.
