It does look a bit more street oriented. I like that it isn't covered in body panels. Should make maintenance and roadside repairs a lot easier and faster. It still has the 21" and 18" wheels which is great for off-road. More fuel capacity too.

I like it. I'll probably get one late next year if I can find a deal.

I'll just keep riding my 950 until they pry it from my cold, dead hands.

I like this new bike but for me I fail to see anything it offers that my old bike doesn't do well already. Best upside I can see is all the low mile, primped out 950s and 990s that will be entering the flea market at low, low prices to replace my battered bike eventually. More power, higher insurance, more money, more road oriented... For my style of riding which is still pretty much road biased, it just doesn't make sense.

I wonder what it looks like with a high fender and knobbies.

If it turns out to be half way between an Adventure and SE in purpose.. it could be full of win.
If it turns out to be half way between an Adventure and an SMT in purpose... I'll be full of disappointment

So far all of the pix I've seen make me wanna...

I'd destroy that exhaust (rip it clean off) within a week of owning the bike.
I love the fact that my 950's exhausts are tucked out of the way and have a roll cage

Wot and you think mr Akrapovic doesn't already have a smaller tri-oval exhaust waiting?
Guessn it won't be a problem.

hummmmmmmmmmmm .... hummmmmm I'm not sure of what to think of that yet. I guess I have to see it in person ... it looks like they havent messed with the wheels so my woodys won't go obsolete.

One of my favorite things about the 950 is the dual rally tank design. By moving the tanks to the side it allows the seat to extend closer to the triple clamps like a dirt bike so you can slide way forward for cornering (especially on long fire roads where you don't necessarily want to be standing the whole time) and way back for sand/mud. The 1190 looks like a relatively fixed street bike position. Way less useful off road IMHO.

The SE has a single tank design, but you can slide forward.

it carries the weight lower too which is nice for a heavy bike

one of the things i hate on an adv bike is a "u" shapped seat (XTZ 660 is a classic example) if you slide to the back of the seat you sit higher on the bike which alters the centre of gravity.....particularly frustrating on steep down hill decents . I guess they do it to make the bike more appealing to shorter riders but it ruins the bike in my veiw

1190 Adventure Ride Report

Hi,

German motorcycle magazin "Motorrad" has another ride report of the new KTM Adventure, this time of the "standard" model (1190 Adventure, without the "R"). The specs are:

- Same Engine as the 1190R, i.e. 150 HP
- 19 inch front wheel
- Electronic suspension
- ABS with "offroad" mode
- Traction control
- Seat hight adjustable between 840 and 860 mm
- Same tank (24 liters) and fairing as the 1190 Adventure R
- Claimed weight of 230 kg ready to ride with the tank filled to 90% of capacity
- Will be unveiled at "Intermot" motorcycle show in Germany in October

Link to the issue with the ride report: http://www.motorradonline.de/motorra...2012-19/423737

There will be an 1190 Superduke also, but no word yet on a 1190 SMT.

Cheers,

FechFech
