So does this mean they are going to continue to make the 990 adventure?

Well, if my figures hold up; A stock 990R with fuel is about 500 lbs, whereas the 1190R is 506 lbs with fuel.

I hope the gas tank on the 1190 is at least 6-7 gallons. If so, and the 1190 has comparable ground clearance and suspension travel figures it wouldn't make much sense to continue making the 990.

if I were ktm I'd have turned the old SMT into the new 1190 adventure to satisfy the multistrada adventure crowd and then released a much lighter, smaller motor 'R' version .... but I'm not.

So it's purely an answer to the multistrada and GS, altough the GS seems more off-road oriented then the new ADV.

To bad... On the other hand, i wil never buy another new motorcycle so it's cool to have all the fresh used 990s on the market. So if i ever get bored of my carbs the chances on a sweet deal are looking positive.

Still going for a testride when it launches. Can't judge a bike purely on first impressions....the old adv's are a good example of that.

I think they should make a carb'ed, non-abs 990 that comes with a 2-into-1 Akra and other essential off-road stuff (better skid plate, battery, Rekluse clutch). It should have a kick-start option like the off-road bikes as well as larger tanks. Suede seat, too.

Youd kick start a 990 Vtwin. Good luck with that
