Um, for about the 11 billionth time, that "translation" doesn't work because manufacturers price their vehicles differently for different markets. I.e. just because Model X sells for Y in market Z, you can't just convert to the local currency in market A and expect to get a meaningful result.
Just be patient and US prices will be available..... ![]() -SM

Plus most other countries have the sales tax rolled up in the price, not added later. That's + 19%-21% for most European countries.

I am in love with this bike minus that jumbo can muffler. Sadly it still looks as though the pipe is still pointed so as to melt right rear tail lights as per the norm for us 530 excr riders.
I have been interested in a SMT lately as I have a BMW and am not overly excited about it, The new GS looks very interesting with the h2o heads. Wet clutch etc...but I really am liking this non R version of this adv katoom. I have a neck injury that prevents me from ever being a serious offroad terror again like I am racing the Dakar every ride. Now days I want to be able to boogie up a cool two track or fire road to find some cool out of the way spot to camp, fish, hunt, or just chill out and have a brew, but I need it to be long haul comfortable like my BMW is because I am put 10k per year just on recreational riding alone. The R version still looks quite off tarmac capable and still more off road that the beastly GSA imho, and the taming of the non R version with 19"/17" set up is a great addition to me anyway. I think they are trying not to loose their core group of hardcore off hiway folks but trying to steal a few of the GS/GSA guys with the non R model. I like it.

12495 British pounds sterling = 20083.2135 US dollars
Looks like they're positioning it in line with the $20000 R1200GS! |

I wonder if the tubeless spoked wheels from this can be retrofit to the 950/990?

Love it.........glad I bought my 950 when I did.....Lots of life left in it
![]() I have a feeling that the 950 and 990 just became even more of a "cult classic" bike then they already were.

![]() Damn, is that because of the cc, or is a bike considered a luxury item? And I bitch about the 6.7% we have here in Colorado.

Check the width on the new wheels. They are really wide and might not fit your 990.

UK site says 9995 GBP which equates to $16064 at current exchange rate.
Last I recall the 990's were MSRP around $13000 in the US so about 23% higher in UK. Assuming the same 23% that would put the 1190R at $16200 in the USA... which is much more in line with GS and Super Tenere pricing.
