With all this armchair talk about how much Yamaha sucks I can't help but notice that Millsaps doesn't seem to have any issues. If you want to talk about crappy bikes, think about how many podiums KTM would get if it wasn't for Dungey's talent
? It's not about the bike, it all about the rider.

P.S. I do not to mean to slam on KTM's but we all know that their MX machines are a bit behind.

I dont think anyone was saying Yamaha sucks, but that the handling is odd due to the tilted engine. I dont think they have had any mechanical issues.

I'm a huge Yamaha fan, and "thought" I wanted to trade in my 07 YZ450 for a new one but I do hear they handle odd? I've got a friend that buys a couple 450's every year and he doesnt like the new YZ450 handling. I'mma gonna wait it out and see if they dont go back to a normal setup.

I dunno if it was the bike or JS, hard to tell with him being his own worst enemy and all, but he didnt look very comfortable at speed IMO.

It's been noted that Stewart's way forward riding style may not gell with with the supposed front heavy Yamaha.

Millsaps reportedly has a more neutral riding style making the Yamaha a rideable bike for him.
(this from a recent Racer X article)

I would refine that statement to say it's more about matching up the rider to the bike. Some bikes will suit some riders better than others. Reed was very vocal about how the '09 Honda was horrible. He burned some bridges with that. And some other riders did struggle on the '09. But he changed his tune on that in '10/'11. One model year can make a big difference. Ryan Villopoto aid as much on the '12 Kawi, he liked the '12 so much, he made a mid-to-late season change to the '12 during last year's MX season, while he seemed to struggle on the '11 in MX in the early part of the season. Then again, Reed was also very vocal about hating the Kawasaki, it just didn't suit him. This concept of riders not feeling all that comfortable on certain bikes really isn't that uncommon, meanwhile another rider will go out and love the bike that the other guy can't stand.

that goes without saying.

proper maintenance is where a lot of these teams fall short.

does Joe Gibbs even know how to clean a bike?

Looks like Moto 1 is live on Fuel:

Saturday, May 19, 2012:
4:00pm-6:00pm (L) AMA Motocross -Moto#1 Hangtown FUEL

And Moto 2 is on NBCSC (formerly Versus, I think) at 12 midnight that same evening.

Maybe if joe gibbs had employed them ladies,it would of lit a fire under bubbas ass.I love how he blames not gelling w the bike,I thought it was mostly rider skill that gets you the wins.To me a great rider could win on anything, whos to say he wont or dont suck on a suzuki.Im not for or against Bubba either way.
