Thanks!
I set the GoPro on time-lapse mode, in which it automatically captures a shot every 10 seconds. This frees my hand to focus on riding the bike :) |

Thanks
Thanks for such a thorough ride report.
I am in Korea and starting to plan an Asia trip and your report was the first thing I found. Lucky for me! Did you come across many used cycles for sale? Cheers. |

Thank you for sharing your awesome ride across Southeast Asia. Great photos! Wish I could ride along those roads in the near future.

WOW, I really enjoyed looking at all your photos! Great stuff. I just finished up an Americas trip, so I have some questions in regards to SE Asia.
What would you typically pay for a hotel room in USD? What is the low end even if you didn't stay in these places? Fuel costs? It seems safer to walk around with a DSLR there than Latin America? Is thievery almost non existent there? It also seems quite populated, is camping quite tough? Is bringing a tent even worth it? Thanks!

Thanks for your kind words.
I prefer to stay in budget accommodation like guest houses or family-run hostel/hotel/inn, which is the low end. I usually pay between 10-20USD a night for such places. For this price, you can get a decent room with a private shower and usually wifi and sometimes cable TV, which is value for money. Fuel cost is between 4-5USD per gallon, depending on countries. Yes it is generally safe to move around with your camera in Southeast Asia, but of course the usual precaution still applies especially in the more touristy locations as petty thieves usually target crowded places full of tourists. Don't bother about camping. Plenty of cheap accommodation everywhere even in the most remote highlands. Cheers, Daniel Quote:

Hi Daniel,
Great trip! Really admire your courage to do it all by yourself. Very nice pics too. I don't know if I ever have what it takes to do it. Just wondering how did you manage the $$ sides of things, it's definitely not too safe carrying large amounts of cash around and with so many borders crossing and different currencies, and also I guess credit cards are not widely accepted. What's your recommendation for that? Also, what kind of bike do you think should be a minimum when planning for such trips comfortably? Capacity? Cheers
