A "friend" of mine in another jurisdiction used to make noise makers by packing a pound or so of Goex black powder into a double capped-off 2" PVC pipe using readily available waterproof cannon fuse (google it) pushed through a pre-drilled hole and sealed with silicone sealer. I heard they made a lot of noise. I don't know if that would work to remove a beaver dam, but it is allegedly a lot of fun...

The problem (one of many I'd think) with that is depending upon the type, some of the powder tends to be blown out away from the explosion and gets wasted instead of consumed and converted to energy, I would guess, I think, hell what do I know, I've never been anywhere near something like that in my life.

How about one of those pneumatic lift bags they have for jacking up a car, a bottle of acetylene and a road flare? Pack the empty bag deep in the dam, inflate, light and throw!
