35 years ago, we used HEP rounds... High Explosive Plastic. Had the ballistics of a softball, but was effective on target.

You can buy tannerite in stores sometimes. They have it at this one gun shop in El Paso. This isn't it though...

He is talking about using explosives to remove a beaver dam that abuts a public road, so in a way, yes. If he doesn't block the road, what guarantee is there that there won't be a carload of kids driving by just when it goes boom? There will need to be a NOTAM, too, to make sure no one overflies the area during the event. And depending on the amount of water that's been impounded, he might need to get the Corps of Engineers involved to see if there are any downstream flooding issues to worry about.

Yup, and not much penetration on them. Gotta get deep on a beaver dam to get it loose, those leetle fuckers know how to build shit out of sticks.

Maybe we should just pick it apart a leetle bit at a time?

Well, that is a minor detail. If I get the contract that road could have a water crossing to navigate by the time we're done.

No real problem, most folks in that area drive fo wheel drive trucks anyway.

All you need is a phased plasma rifle in the 40-watt range, you'll be fine

There was a time a million years ago when I had just gotten out of college and was a high school math teacher. Long story short, during my very first in-service day ever, my trusted mentors decided that my first-ever in-service day would be best spent by me learning the value of putting a couple layers of owens-corning insulation up under their hunting camp.

So in-service day comes along, we sign in, then split (don't worry everybody does it). By 8:15am we are at the beer-store, and it has been decided (2-1 vote) that I would have the honor of being the driver. We also took a vote, and it was decided 2-1 that we would take my truck.

Fast-forward an hour and a lot of beer (we had plenty) we are heading up a logging road toward camp. "Fuck me running" the road has been completely washed out but there is a beaver dam across where it used to be. Since we are in my truck, we decide that it will hold (2-1 vote). We creep across. It holds, mostly, but requires an enthusiastic woo-hoo and much throttle to gain the far bank.

At camp, we drink the rest of the beer, drop the insulation off on the porch, then decide to make sure that the whisky at camp has not gone bad. No actual installation was performed that day, as far as I know.

Apparently the whisky was, in fact, bad because the rest of the story is nowhere in my memory. However, I am told that on the way back through I saw the gap in the road, and said 'hang on, y'old fucks'.

We (reportedly) hit the gap in the road where the road and the beaver dam used to be at about 40 miles an hour, and wound up somewhere near the road-bed on the other side of it. I am told that it was like "a fucking ford-powered nuclear fucking bomb, visited upon the fucking beavers."

At that point it was reportedly decided (2-1 vote) that I had done enough driving for one day.

I woke up in my truck the next morning, in my driveway, late for work.

Anyway, if you don't want to risk using explosives, I highly recommend using math teachers. Just make sure you have a majority, in case anything comes to a vote.
