Krystall-Rally 2015, Rondablikk hotel, Norway

I figured I'd share some photos from this year's Krystall-Rally in Norway. This is a annual motorcycle meeting held in the middle of the winter here! Usually the second weekend of February. This year was the 44th Krystall-Rally, I've been to about 12 of them. Only once with a Solo bike, and the rest with a sidecar.
So, here we have some photos from the first day we got there, heavy fog and about -4 degrees celsius (quite hot! in 2011 there were -34 degrees celsius...):
A BMW R1200GS, French I believe.

As we build centre hub steering, we always take "spy" photos of other builds...

A K100 from Sweden, behind is mctouring.se's BMW R1200GS (also swedish)

Our BMW K1100 with wooden sidecar and one off homebuilt centre hub steering from our garage:

A picture from friday evening:

And then we've slept a night and have woken up to wonderful weather and -8 degrees celsius:

A cold Super Bol d' Or:

My dads first sidecar, I've grown upå with this one, Europe. Britain and all over Norway for more then 100.000km! BMW K100RS 1985, with a modified Sidebike Commanche

German BMW R1200GSW, newest model, He's got a lot of luggage!

This is probably the bike that has participated in most Krystall-Rally of all! 1953 BMW, German, has more than a million kilometers on the clock! He had no clue as to the exact number, but he counted 100k ten times 10 plus years ago... so it's probably close to 2 million k's now! (not the original engine though, it's a R100 engine)

Some frost on our K1100:

German BMW R75:

More pictures of the BMW R1200GSW:

French Triumph Rocket III:

Spanish Yamaha Super Tenerè 1200, he's a long way from home!

Welshmen trying to get their old Honda CB 400 Four to run, Honda Shadow VT600 and a Suzuki GT550:

Another centre hub steering system:

The CB400 four started!

A real welsh viking on a Shadow!

Germans going out for a day trip!

The hotel:

Peer Gynt and the reindeer:

View over Rondane:

NTV 650:

Zeus Sidebike:

Italian BMW R1200GS:

Triumph Rocket III

Dirty Triumph Rocket III

I'll make some videos too! Have a lot of movie material off my GoPro that needs to be taken care of and uploaded! I hope more people will take the trip next year! Quite fun and a very good motorcycle enviroment!

This looks like the same idea as the Elephant rally?

I love Norway it's a beautiful country, great people wonderful scenery; been there a few times.....

Great shots; BUT hang on, "MORE EXTREME" where's the tents ? Surely you weren't in the luxury of the hotel with all facilities and a fine bar no doubt.

Cheers

Elefant rally....not elephant.

The crucial difference is that there's no longer camping at the Krystall.

I believe that camping was stopped at the Krystall due to people freezing to death in their tents.

Krystall-Rally is not more extreme than the Elefant and Primus, but the weather conditions when going to Krystall can be much more "extreme". Yeah, there is a hotel and a fancy bar... And it has always been in a hotel, no tenting... So the conditons once you reach the hotel aint that extreme at all, nearly cosy... But we have encountered minus 34 degrees celsius when driving to Krystall-Rally.

Never thought I would say this about a side-hack, but your K1100 rig is stunning. Would you share a link to a build-thread if you've got one?

Very nice and innovative work. Thanks for sharing. I especially like the wood shop/metal shop combo, the brake system and that you did it all with your Dad.
