Flinders Classic 2012 The Gasman Report
This is my version of the Flinders Classic 2012
I had a fantastic time and met some fantastic people, its a bit hard to type with a busted hand so videos first First up first 5 minutes on a borrowed ride .Conman's KTM525 with auto clutch, rear brake on handelbar, no clutch lever......its a 4 stroke, the handelbars are way too high and I haven't riden a bike for well over 6 months... and Iam following Icebergstu !! this is just out of camp for those who went on the Flinders Classic onya Stu.......you can run but you can't hide (we were both on borrowed bikes btw cruisy run to the lookout playing with the newbies.......... big crash at the end broke a few bones in my hand ...ouchies Mary Fairchild-brown Tyre change This is how we started our day ![]() ![]() Stu took us to his secret squirrel favorite campsite he returns too every few years trouble is the loclas have moved in ..aka big brown snake (yes I did jump) ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() the view from the back seat

First look at our new home Angorichina Tourist Village in the Parachilna Gorge (northern South Australia)
a few bikes on trailers a few scattered on the ground. this bike rolls in ..........and I think its the Husky that had issues as it was coming in when I took the pic and next day "blew up" I only know because this bloke apologized to me later in the weekend for not waving to me (holding a camera) as he came in because the bike wasn't running properly......... that pretty much sums up how friendly the whole crowd was ![]() Rolled in with Icebergstu and Conman (DBW) or ADV fornicator625 (I think) ![]() what we didn't reveal to anybody (until now) was how after about 7 hours of travel (including sightseeing) was that Bill's Husky almost jumped out the trailer with about 1.5 klms to left to travel ![]() ![]() I went to check out my dorm accomodation leaving the boys to setup ![]() head down and check out the camp next door to Stu. bugger me ....kegs on tap ![]() you can guess there is more of this story to come ![]()

![]() ![]() If anyone did the railway line heading south from Parachilna over the weekend, they would have seen the hundreds of railway sleepers alongside the track/access roads - that's where Matty got his from. If people get to the Classic early enough and have a good trailer, it would only take 30 minutes to load up a couple of dozen of them.....last all weekend.

I just want to put in a few comments here, this is my first ADV report but I have written a few before and I quite enjoy it. I do like a bit of feedback along the way tho, more of a feelgood factor and a bit of banter along the way as well.
Iam interested in feedback on the videos, this is relativly new to me and first time using the Contour, at this stage I have limited video editing skills and to be honest Iam a fan of hearing the bike rather than thrash music ...... and I do like my 2 stroke .... I might add agian that this is all being typed with one hand so the report will take a while and the sentences are a bit shortened at times as for the weekend .....I spend last weekend with the in-laws and got the usual ............its time to give up dirtbikes ..yadda yadda ..I explained a lot more good came out of the weekend than bad...."a lot more" great bunch of people thx |

Nick and Todd
what can I say ..................nice Lads .we took them under our wing for the weekend and Iam sure we have made friends for life.Nick ![]() Todd ![]() we were pretty much ready to go ..(basicly the last to leave camp) and being a bit of the camp mother (that sounds so bad .........lol.I tend to make sure everyone is ok .and mother everyone who comes on one of my rides) I wandered up to the boys camp to see how they were going.Todd explained that his mates bike would'nt start and he was worried about some crack in his crankcase and kickstarting it would break it........and his mate was going to stay behind ... I explained thats not the way things work on a camp like this :) sent his mate (Nick) down to Con for an engineers report ...........kickstarting would be no worries etc...anyway we met up with them at the start of the par and the rest is history. |
